Patton, 44, happened to have had COVID prior to Burns, so he was all too familiar with the symptoms.
Once they were both well, the longtime pals ventured to New York City to film the Blue’s Clues movie, titled Blue’s Big City Adventure.
During their downtime in New York, they went to the set to watch the latest host of Blue’s Clues, Joshua Dela Cruz, shoot his scenes.
‘It was fun to go watch what he’s capable of,’ Patton said of Dela Cruz. And then I was amazed in the way that translates into the movie, actually, too, because I didn’t know how it was going to turn out when I would see it,’ he explained.
‘I was impressed by it. It filled me with the purest form of jealousy because this man is insanely talented,’ Patton said of Dela Cruz.
Patton, 44, took the reins from Burns as Blue’s new pal Joe in 2002 when Burns exited the series.

Making a comeback: Over 20 years after his abrupt departure from the wildly popular kids show Blue’s Clues, Steve Burns reprised his role in the new Paramount Plus movie Blue’s Big City Adventure which was released last
Steve hosted the original Blue’s Clues from 1996 until his sudden departure in 2001… where his character Steve abruptly left to go to college, leaving his brother Joe (Donovan Patton) with Blue.
Burns revealed in an interview after his departure, ‘I knew I wasn’t going to be doing children’s television all my life, mostly because I refused to lose my hair on a kid’s TV show, and it was happening, fast.’
He added that he shaved his head the day after filming his final episode – revealing that the show’s producers would never allow him to do that.
He added in a 2016 interview, ‘A lot of the original people on the show, like the people who created it, were all moving on to other careers. It just felt like time.’
Departure: Burns hosted Blue’s Clues since its inception in 1995, though he abruptly left in 2001, revealing in a later interview that he was going bald, stating, ‘I refused to lose my hair on a kid’s TV show, and it was happening, fast’

Burns returned as his beloved character Steve in Blue’s Big City Adventure, which was released last month on Paramount+.
The movie follows Josh and Blue as they arrive for a Broadway audition in New York City, though they get lost and Mr. Salt journeys to find them and reunites with Steve and Joe, both living in New York City.
Burns also wrote and directed episodes of the new series and sent a heartfelt video to fans last year for the show’s 25th anniversary.
