Big Brother’s Reggie Bird reveals the results of her cataract surgery after announcing that she’s going both blind AND deaf following health diagnosis
Reggie Bird has shared the results of her cataract surgery as she battles blindness.
The Big Brother star posted an image of her reddened and painful eye encased in a protective covering after the procedure on Sunday.
The 48-year-old wrote in her caption on Twitter: ‘Cataract surgery went well this time round. First operation didn’t go good.

‘This time I went to my ophthalmologist Dr. Bourke and he did a great job. Can’t wait till it heals and hopefully see a little clearer now’.
It comes after Reggie shared an emotional message for her fans after revealing that she has Usher syndrome, a rare genetic disease that affects both hearing and vision.
In a video shared to Facebook, she began by thanking her fans, then added, ‘S**t announcement really, finding out I have Usher syndrome.
The 48-year-old wrote in her caption on Twitter: ‘Cataract surgery went well this time round. First operation didn’t go good. This time I went to my ophthalmologist Dr. Bourke and he did a great job. Can’t wait till it heals and hopefully see a little clearer now’
It comes after Reggie shared an emotional message for her fans after revealing that she has Usher syndrome, a rare genetic disease that affects both hearing and vision
‘Not only am I going blind, I am also going deaf. It’s the worst outcome that could have come about from my genetic testing. But life goes on and you have to make the most of each day’ she continued.
Reggie says her goal now is to ‘get fit again’ and look like she did when she posed for lads mag FHM magazine in 2005.
‘That is going to be my motivation, I am going to get fit again,’ she added, before telling her fans she loved them all.
‘Not only am I going blind, I am also going deaf. It’s the worst outcome that could have come about from my genetic testing,’ she said
Reggie has been plagued by health issues since first winning Big Brother.
Earlier this month, she was left heartbroken when she discovered she has Usher syndrome.
‘It’s not what I wanted to hear,’ Reggie explains in an emotional clip shared to Instagram.
‘It’s the worst thing that you could have,’ she told fans, before breaking down in tears in an earlier video
‘It’s the worst thing that you could have. I’m going to be deaf-blind,’ she continued, before breaking down in tears.
Reggie made history when she became the first reality star to win Big Brother twice, the first time in 2003 and again in 2022.
The reality star, who is legally blind after being diagnosed with the degenerative eye condition pigmentosa, still has limited vision.
