Ben Affleck sat for an interview with CBS Sunday Morning and revealed he’s reached peak happiness in his life and career.

Sitting alongside his best friend Matt Damon, 52, the 50-year-old filmmaker discussed their upcoming film Air.

The movie, which premiered at SXSW Saturday and comes out April 5, portrays how Nike worked to secure a deal with Michael Jordan in the 1980s.

And next on his roster, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-bred talent will produce another upcoming sports biopic that will feature his wife Jennifer Lopez, 53.

During the chat Ben told CBS correspondent Tracy Smith about working on Air, ‘Happiness was being able to be here in Los Angeles, where my children are, and see them every day.’

He added emphatically, ‘Having [my kids] come visit the set, working with my best friend my whole life — there’s nothing more that I want in my life.’

Dressed in a light green sweater with its sleeves rolled up, he reiterated, ‘I thought, “This is it. This is what I’ve always wanted.”‘

In another part of the conversation Ben and Matt agreed that being able to spend time together while working on the imminent project was ‘a bonus.’

‘Being able to spend more time with each other was one of the things that we wanted to do,’ Affleck explained.

The longtime actor said the friends asked themselves ‘Why aren’t we hanging out and spending more time together since we managed to stay friends this whole time?’

Matt added somewhat jokingly, ‘Plus, we hit our 50s, so you can see the end of the tunnel.’

Ben continued to stress the joy that creating Air brought him as he shared, ‘I find the most wonderful thing about it was I loved coming to work every day. I loved seeing Matt.’

And he even called his friend and collaborator, with whom he gained critical acclaim for their 1997 film Good Will Hunting, ‘a genius.’

‘It just makes it so easy and it was just so much fun,’ he gushed. ‘I don’t know, it’s kind of felt like just us and getting to do the thing that we wanted to do – I loved it and I miss it every day since.’

He went on to call it ‘the best work experience of my life, without a question.’

Ben’s next film, about the wrestler Anthony Robles, like Air, will come from his and Matt’s new production company Artists Equity.

It will also be once again distributed in partnership with Amazon.

Joking about his wife’s involvement with the flick, Ben charmingly said, ‘We always hire the very best performers and in this case I can say every single person that’s been cast so far I think is the very absolute best choice.’

He added coyly, ‘I believe Jennifer Lopez may be doing that movie, yes.’

‘What fun and what a joy to see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend.

‘Ultimately your work becomes the lion’s share of what defines your life in terms of the time you spend.

‘If you don’t like who you’re working with and if you have difficulty or trouble at work, I think it’s one of the things that can really cause depression and anxiety and pain for people.

‘And conversely, if you love the people at work you probably have a pretty good life.’

Ben and Jennifer surprised fans last year when they revealed that they had travelled to Las Vegas to tie the knot in an intimate ceremony.

Shortly after, they jetted off to France, where they were spotted taking in the sights and enjoying the scenery.

The twosome were joined by their respective kids: Ben’s two daughters with ex Jennifer Garner – Violet, 17, and Seraphina, 14 – and Jennifer’s 15-year-old twins Maximilian and Emme with ex Marc Anthony.

They rekindled their romance in spring 2021 after calling off their engagement nearly 20 years earlier.
