BBC Breakfast viewers have slammed Naga Munchetty for being ‘rude and arrogant’ towards Charlie Stayt, claiming it makes for ‘awkward viewing’.

The newsreader, 47, is often criticised by fans for her frosty on-air exchanges with her co-stars, including beloved weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, 60.

And over the past week, Twitter users have highlighted Naga’s ‘spikey relationship’ with Charlie, 60, while calling for her to be sacked.

One wrote: ‘Naga why are you so rude and arrogant towards Charlie, you would not tolerate it if he did that. He really does his best not to let you get to him, you often are rude to Carol too. #bully #BBCBreakfast.’

Another added: ‘I see Naga & Charlie are in their spikey relationship space this morning. It’s like as a kid & you walk into the room knowing your parents have fallen out… awkward viewing. #BBCBreakfast.’

A third and fourth penned, ‘Charlie and Naga are too much! They’re like brother and sister #BBCBreakfast,’ and, ‘@BBCBreakfast think Naga was that close to swatting Charlie during the Papers slot.’

Another fan chimed in with, ‘Why are us viewers having to put up with Naga munchetta bad behaviour towards Charlie State .Sack her.’

One more concluded, ‘@BBCBreakfast Why is Naga so rude to Charlie this morning….? Not just this morning really is it.’

Charlie recently cut off Naga and slammed her expertise.

The hosts were caught bickering live on air again as the duo disagreed over how a 6ft 4in jockey, Jack Andrews, would compare to his shorter competitors at Cheltenham.

When reading from Jack’s testimony, he said: ‘He says, “If you’re short, you’re sometimes perched on top of the back of the horse, and they can get the better of you”.

‘Whereas If you’re a big lad, you can manhandle a horse.’

He then told Naga: ‘So the much smaller jockey would sit on top of the horse whereas he can wrap his legs further around the horse.’

Naga then glared back at Charlie, confused, before commenting, ‘I’m not sure it would be completely comfortable wrapping your legs around the girth of a horse whilst it’s galloping at who knows how many miles per hour.’

She added: ‘When you’re galloping, you’re supposed to be on top of the horse. You can’t just sit and bump on the horse.’

And while Naga was speaking, Charlie then cut her off and made a dig at her expertise.

He said: ‘I think what I’ll do is I’ll take the testimony of Jack Andrews, the jockey, over your expertise in the area.’

He added another jibe by saying: ‘That’s all I’m saying. I think he probably knows what he’s talking about.’

It comes after Carol shut down rumours of a feud with Naga, following a series of frosty on-air exchanges.

The meteorologist admitted viewers of the show often ask whether she gets on with the newsreader, 47, after picking up on tension.

Insisting they are on friendly terms, she told The Sun: ‘I love Naga and we just have banter. I love the camaraderie between us and everyone. It’s a good, fun job.’

The month before, Naga told her co-star she looked ‘really stern’ as Carol got ready to present the forecast for Christmas.

Naga went on to ask Charlie if he thought Carol was had a somber expression as she quizzed if the nation can expect snow to fall on Christmas Day.

Naga said: ‘Carol’s taking a look at the weather, of course, for us this morning.

‘Carol… I think we’re never allowed to ask you about snow on Christmas Day. You always kind of have that really stern look whenever I ask.’

Naga then turned to Charlie and said: ‘Doesn’t she?’

Carol playfully hit back: ‘Naga, I prefer it when you ask me about the snow on Christmas Day on Boxing Day, to be honest, but hey ho.’

And in November, Naga hit out at Carol for ‘abusing’ her live on air by mistakenly calling her ‘Nana’.

The Scottish weathercaster was presenting her regular slot on the morning news programme before she handed it back to Naga and Charlie Stayt.

But with the nature of live TV, Carol slipped up and accidentally called her female colleague ‘Nana’ – who she says is a producer on the show – much to Naga’s apparent annoyance.

As she finished her forecast, Carol said: ‘The winds will be lighter, just a few showers coming in from the north-west and temperatures ranging from nine to 13 degrees, Nana.’

She immediately added: ‘Naga, sorry, we’ve got a producer called Nana.’

The broadcaster quickly snapped back: ‘You say that every single time, and I come and visit you, and you have a cup of tea. I bring you a cup of tea, and have a nice chat – and I’ve never met Nana,

Jibing around with her co-star, Naga said: ‘I think Nana is a phantom producer that you just make up so you can abuse me by mispronouncing my name.’

Carol quipped back: ‘The shame, Naga, the shame,’ with her face held in her hands.

She then went on to explain to viewers who she accidentally called Naga: ‘Nana is very much alive and kicking and very lovely with it,’ to which Naga replied, ‘I have met Nana. Nana is very nice.

‘You are very lucky to have such a nice producer especially when you behave so badly.’

Making an apparent dig, Carol told Naga: ‘You are awful, but I do like you.’

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am daily on BBC One.
