And now he’s advertising AMAZON! Mike Tindall pops out of a cardboard box in new ad for Prime

[ad_1]

Mike Tindall has appeared in his second advert in the space of a week as he featured in a five-minute promotional video for Amazon Prime – days after he starred in a clip for Domino’s Pizza – as a brand expert claimed he could be in for a ‘£600,000 payday’ from his recent deals.

The husband of the King’s niece Zara and former rugby international, 43, took to Instagram to share the five-minute long ad for the delivery service, amid rumours he will also appear on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

In the clip, which was shared on his The Good The Bad And The Rugby YouTube channel, he is delivered by former England teammate and fellow podcaster James Haskell to a desperate Amazon Prime customer looking to buy a scrum cap.

He then pops out of a cardboard box, while the customer exclaims: ‘[It’s] Mike Tindall, Zara Phillips’ husband!’

Alongside his wife Zara, Mike – whose previously admitted he ‘always worried about money’ – has a long list of brand deals with names such as Musto, Rolex, Land Rover, which are estimated to bring in more than £1 million a year, but many of them are tied to sport and horse riding.

However, his latest deals with brands that are household names are the most high profile to date, thrusting the former rugby player further into the limelight in the weeks since the Queen’s death.

Brand expert Nick Ede told FEMAIL the former rugby ace could be in for a ‘£600,000’ payday off the back of the advert, alongside his work with Domino’s and upcoming I’m A Celeb appearance.

MailOnline has approached Mike Tindall for comment.

Nick said: ‘With these kind of ad deals, Mike Tindall will be making around 300K for the dominos advert. For the Amazon, which he is not in as much, around 150K for this.

‘He’s maximising on his appeal and the fact that there are rugby fixtures coming up and all the media surrounding the royal family and I’m A Celeb…

‘It’s a winning move for him and his appeal.’

In the four minute long clip, Mike’s podcast host James Haskell can be seen loading a series of Amazon deliver boxes into a  van at a warehouse.

Dressed in an Amazon uniform, James is confronted by a warehouse manager who asks if he had everything he needed.

He says: ‘You know they call me, James Amazon Prime Time Haskell, don’t you?’

Later in the ad, a customer can be seen desperately trying to order a scrum cap.

Haskell can be seen delivering  the boxes to the customer, saying that because he is a ‘Prime customer’, he has a special delivery.

Mike then pops out of one of the boxes, with the customer exclaiming: ‘Mike Tindall, Zara Phillip’s husband!’

Mike’s other co-hosts from his rugby podcast join him in popping out of the boxes.

James goes on to say: ‘These guys – you’re a prime member now mate, and this November, Amazon Prime are going to deliver you every single game live.’

The customer then invites the whole team in to watch the rugby, saying he has some ‘egg whites on the go.’

Mike shared the clip on his Instagram page, writing: ‘The clock is ticking…Can Archie’s hero save him? Watch all Autumn Nations Series fixtures live on Amazon Prime Video. Watch the full video on YouTube now.’

The new advert was shared days after Mike appeared in a promotional video for Dominos.

He was also joined by James Haskell in the ad, in which Tindall jokes that he has ‘a man who owed me big, he owes me huge’.

Later he adds he has ‘friends in high places’.

Haskell also jokes about Tindall’s medals during the adevrt that sees former Rugby star Tindall save the day by bringing Domino’s pizzas to a party.

Tindall arrives on the ad in style as he flies in with a helicopter to greet his old teammate.

Mike has previously been dubbed the Royal Family’s ‘secret weapon’ and the ‘cool, fun uncle’ after impressing fans during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, where he dutifully accompanied his wife to several events over the four-day weekend.

The father-of-three entertained an unruly Prince Louis, four, during the Platinum Pageant in June, and appeared in typically jovial spirits throughout the celebrations, where he was on hand to help out with all the royal children.

Mike, his wife, their children, Mia, eight, Lena, four, and Lucas, one, and Princess Anne are often spotted out and about enjoying family days out together whenever keen equestrian Zara is performing in a horse show.

The former rugby ace and Zara, who were first introduced at the 2003 World Cup, enjoy a ‘normal’ life – at least within royal circles – and live with their daughters and son in relative privacy.

However, they still reap the benefits of lucrative contacts that they may have secured, at least in part, thanks to their positions within the royal family

The Tindalls, who live at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, Princess Anne’s royal estate, also dedicate a significant amount of time to charitable causes and have phonebooks dotted with celebrity names.

He has previously confessed he ‘always worries about money’ for bills and school fees – after his income dried up during the pandemic and brand ambassador roles ‘won’t last forever’.

Speaking at the start of last year, Mike told how his income from hospitality events has dried up during the pandemic and spoke of the transient nature of brand ambassador roles.

Mike shared the clip on his Instagram page, advising his followers they could watch all ‘Autumn Nations Series fixtures live on Amazon Prime Video’

Speaking to The Times, he said that despite being a member of the Royal Family and living on the Princess Royal’s sprawling Gatcombe Estate in Gloucestershire, where it’s not clear if the couple pay rent on their cottage, he always worries about his financial situation.

Zara’s mother Princess Anne turned down the Queen’s offer of courtesy royal titles for her chldren when they were born, leaving them to pursue their own careers.

‘You’ve got to plan and now with a third on the way and what’s coming down the line in terms of school bills, fees to pay,’ Mike said.

Most of his income now comes from brand ambassadorships, sponsorships and after -dinner speeches. As a result, his income was hit during the pandemic because many hospitality events were cancelled.

‘I was very fortunate that I had a couple of ambassadorial roles, so you know there’s money coming in, but sponsorships won’t last forever,’ he said.

At the time, he said that being part of the Firm but needing to earn a living is ‘something you just get used to’, adding: ‘It has its benefits and its negatives.

‘You think about what you do and you have to be aware of it but it doesn’t necessarily dictate. Zara and I have always been good at getting on with what’s right for us.’

If he does appear in this year’s series of I’m a Celeb, Mike will follow in the footsteps of his fellow podcaster James, who was in the 2019 series.

During his stay in the camp, James, 37, bonded with fellow campmates Jacqueline Jossa, who went on to win the show, Kate Garraway and Caitlyn Jenner before being booted out by the public following disagreements with comedian Andrew Maxwell.

He is thought to not have asked King Charles for permission to take part in the reality show.

Mike ‘did not seek permission’ from the monarch to appear on the reality programme, according to the Times.

And the outlet added that as Mike could earn a six-figure pay packet for heading to the Aussie outback for the next installment of the ITV show hosted by Ant and Dec, Palace courtiers could find it difficult to ask him to reverse his decision.

Popular culture and brand expert Nick Ede previously  told FEMAIL that the royal could earn up to as much as £150,000 if he took part in the controversial series, which sees contestants undertake unsavoury Bushtucker trials, which can include consuming items including animal genitalia.

The brand expert added that appearing on the show could be a great move for ‘brand Tindall’, noting that while he could earn a significant pay out, ‘the true value of the show is what you do after it’.

He told FEMAIL: ‘Whether he gets a prime role as a sports pundit or panelist or host of a show who knows but for ‘brand Tindall’ this is a great step and will increase his celebrity equity ten fold. All eyes will be on Mike this year.’

Nick also believes that Mike’s ‘devotion’ to his royal wife Zara, 41, made him popular with Brits, after he married into the Royal Family and became the son-in-law of Princess Anne in 2011.

He added: ‘There may well be two kings in the Royal Family this year – one of the crown and one of the jungle.’

Zara and Mike’s mega deals! How the Queen’s granddaughter and her husband are raking in ‘over £1 million a year’ thanks to VERY lucrative partnerships with Musto, Rolex, Land Rover and more, expert claims

They may not actually hold any royal titles – but Zara and Mike Tindall have proven they’re two of the most in-demand members of the Royal Family.

The Queen‘s granddaughter and her rugby ace husband, who live on Princess Anne‘s Gatcombe estate, have become masters at signing lucrative deals, and are bringing in hefty earnings as a result, according to branding expert Nick Ede.

While Mike’s upcoming I’m a Celebrity stunt is rumoured to be paying a cool £150,000, Zara’s new collaboration with luxury brand Musto is thought to have brought in a further £200,000.

These mega brand deals are just the latest in a series of longstanding associations with luxury brands such as Rolex and Land Rover.

Although senior working royals are not permitted to earn money through paid sponsorships, Zara, 41, and Mike, 43, have proven particularly attractive to brands thanks to their royal connections and sporting reputation.

Here Femail delves into how the royal power couple have managed to rake in over £1m a year thanks to their very lucrative brand deals.

Mike’s £150k I’m a Celeb appearance

Last week, it was reported that Princess Anne’s son-in-law will be appearing on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here next month.

And while the actual details of Mike’s I’m a Celeb deal have been kept mainly under wraps, Nick estimated that he would have received a generous compensation for appearing on the show.

‘I am sure Mike will have been paid in excess of £150,000 to appear, but the true value of the show is what you do after it,’ he told FEMAIL.

‘Whether he gets a prime role as a sports pundit or panelist or host of a show who knows but for ‘brand Tindall’ this is a great step and will increase his celebrity equity ten fold.

‘All eyes will be on Mike this year.’

The former England Rugby player will reportedly be the first member of the royal family on prime time, and is said to be joining the likes of Boy George, comic Seann Walsh and DJ Chris Moyles to compete for the Jungle crown.

The details around the father-of-three’s deal ‘remain a closely guarded secret’, however, a source told The Sun: ‘It’s a massive coup.’

Zara’s £500k Musto Payout

Meanwhile, Zara has been working closely with a number of brands throughout her life which have provided her with a solid portfolio.

Last week, she was photographed near her home in Gloucestershire for sailing and outdoor brand Musto, with whom she enjoys a longstanding relationship.

Nick explained the deal will be highly lucrative for the royal, saying: ‘Potentially she will have a back end percentage on sales, which can really increase revenue.

‘Fashion brands do this to incentivise the talent to promote and wear the brand more as that will increase sales and revenue for both parties,’ he explained.

The expert also revealed that the mother-of-three would be likely to use her existing successful deals to negotiate other contracts.

He explained: ‘Other brands will be eyeing up her appeal and potentially there could be a bidding war for her to be a face of!’

It was previously estimated that King Charles’ niece could have earned £500,000 for these deals with Musto.

Zara’s £200k Land Rover Earnings

Zara has been collecting partnerships with legacy brands for years, with her other deals including Land Rover.

She became an official ambassador for the brand in 2006, strengthening the brand’s already impeccable royal connections.

The Queen is thought to have had no fewer than 30 Land Rovers, while they’re also driven by all of the Queen’s children and most of her grandchildren – as well as the Princess of Wales’ family.

Zara became the first person to be given the keys to a Range Rover Evoque in 2011 and has presented a women’s scholarship, for training in engineering, sponsored by the firm. And every year they sponsor her equestrian competitions.

Nick estimated that Zara could be earning £200,000 a year from this partnership.

Zara’s £100k Rolex Payday

The mother-of-three also enjoys a partnership with Rolex, having been a ‘testimonee’ as the brand calls its ambassadors, since 2006.

It was previously estimated that Zara was likely to get £100,000 for the partnership.

The mother-of-three will also receive all the watches she was seen wearing at several equestrian competitions or when out and about with her family.

The mother-of-three could also be earning £100,000 a year from her partnership with Rolex, having become one of their 'testimonees' in 2006 (pictured attending the 2018 International Day Polo Match at The Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club in July 2018)

Zara’s Magic Millions deal worth £125K

Zara was also announced as the first Magic Millions Racing Women Ambassador in 2012, and now travels to Surfers Paradise in Queensland every year for the Gold Coast Yearling Sale, seven days of auctions which culminate in a major race meeting where all contenders are horses bought at previous Magic Millions auctions.

‘This is an ongoing partnership that sees Zara attend events every year to present gifts to the winners,’ Mischa Jolin, Managing Director of Influencer, PR and Branding agency, Edencancan previously told Femail.

‘She is an integral part of the brand which empowers women within the equestrian field. I would anticipate this partnership is worth circa £125k per year.’

Zara’s £80k jewellery collaboration

In 2018, Zara also debuted a collection with luxury jewellery Calleija, which is still available today and could have helped her rake in £80,000.

The Zara Phillips Collection by Calleija is a range of equestrian inspired pieces of fine jewellery with an exclusive price tag.

A ‘saddle ring’ she’s designed for the Australian brand costs around £7,000 and Zara will receive royalties from sales.

The collaboration was seen as a passion project at the time and Zara designed the pieces as well as modelled them.

In 2019, Zara earned an estimated £80,000 from her collaboration with luxury jewellery brand Calleija, which is still active to this day

In 2019, Zara earned an estimated £80,000 from her collaboration with luxury jewellery brand Calleija, which is still active to this day

It also emerged in 2019 that Zara was paid £100,000 a year for a non-executive directorship at the Global Group of companies, owned by tycoon Dr Johnny Hon.

She was appointed to advise on horse racing for a sports investment arm,and contractually required to attend just two board meetings by telephone a year and four company functions.

Mike’s £50k CBD Partnership

Mike has also been bringing money for partnerships of his own.

In 2019, Zara’s husband announced a new partnership with Pueris CBD, a company selling cannabis products.

‘Pueris is one of the market leaders in CBD oil and although its still relatively new in the UK it still can be very lucrative,’ Nick said.

‘Mike will have been paid an up front fee of around 50K plus he will received kickback on any bottle sold – this will be tracked with the special discount code – he could earn thousands based on the commission he makes,’ he added.

Sharing the news of the partnership on Twitter, the father-of-three also offered his followers on social media a discount code.

Mike and Zara worked with VST Entreprises amid the coronavirus pandemic to promote digital health passports (pictured, with CEO and former rocker Louis-James Davis and his wife Nicole in November 2019)

Meanwhile, the couple raised eyebrows in 2020 when they both agreed to act as global ambassadors for a tech firm behind a ‘digital health passport’ app linked to COVID-19.

At the time, branding experts told Femail that Mike and Zara stood to make £200,000 from the deal with VST Enterprises.

The Manchester-based cyber security firm was behind the V-Health Passport, an app which could be scanned to reveal whether the user had tested negative for coronavirus or had antibodies.

In total, all of these endorsements are likely to bring Zara’s earning to £1million a year, according to Nick.

What’s more, the brand expert said she’s unlikely to lose any of her appeal as her endorsements are ‘priceless.’

‘Unlike many celebs or public figures who use their social media to sell Zara is like a more traditional Hollywood star in the sense that her image and her endorsement is the value she brings to the brand,’ he said.

Mischa Joslin, Managing Director of Influencer, PR and Branding agency, Edencancan previously told Femail: ‘Whilst many brands would likely want to work with say Meghan or Kate, they are not allowed to do paid for partnerships.

‘Zara Tindall provides a unique way for brands to tap into the Royal reputation without the restraints and restrictions that would apply to working with a member who is closer to the throne.’
