Amy Robach tells DailyMail.com ‘it’s kind of over now’ after affair with T.J. Holmes was exposed

Eight days after news of her affair with GMA co-host T.J. Holmes broke, Amy Robach has told DailyMail.com ‘It’s kind of over now.’

Robach made her comment as she walked her golden doodle, Brody, in Manhattan, just three days after she and her lover Holmes, 45, were ‘indefinitely’ suspended from the show they once fronted.

Casually dressed in a jean jacket, white shirt, and high-waisted khaki pants, she spoke through gritted teeth and it was unclear whether Robach, 49, was expressing frustration at the ongoing furor, or referring to the relationship that sparked it all in the first place.

ABC bosses have yet to make a final decision over the couple’s future but neither Holmes nor Robach have been on the screen since Monday and a source has told DailyMail.com that there are no plans for them to return to their seats at GMA3 this week.

Earlier, CNN’s Don Lemon expressed support for the pair saying that viewers should not judge them until all the facts are known.

He said he hoped to see them reinstated and he hoped to ‘give them a hug’ if he saw them.

Executives at the network, which is owned by Disney, are working to find a solution after it was revealed that Holmes’ affair with Robach, which left his twelve-year-long marriage to attorney Marilee Fiebig, 44, in tatters, was not his first indiscretion.

In fact, he had a three-year-long affair with one of the show’s producers between 2016 and 2019, a woman who happened to be one of Robach’s best friends.

A source tells DailyMail.com, ”There is massive confusion internally. ABC News executive Kim [Godwin] has taken them off the air while they deal with this.’

ABC News President Kim Godwin made the announcement during an internal call Monday morning, calling the romance a distraction.

‘I want to say that while that relationship is not a violation of company policy, I have really taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization,’ Godwin said, according to TMZ.

‘This is something I’m not going to talk, we’re not going to talk about on this call until there is more to be said. I’m asking that we stop the whispering in the hallways. You know, we can’t operate with gossip, and speculation and rumors. We need to stay focused on the work.

‘If you think there is something that management needs to know, you can always call HR or, as we’ve said, talk to a manager that you trust. If you think there is something that we need to know.’

The co-stars had appeared to be taking the scandal in stride as they continued to anchor the news last week without responding to DailyMail.com’s report, which included photos of the couple on a romantic getaway, holding hands in the back of a car and sharing a laugh at a bar.

But by last Friday the pair had finally acknowledged the drama surrounding their clandestine affair by awkwardly laughing off the scandal as they opened the show.

Holmes and Robach had remained tight-lipped since DailyMail.com revealed the two had been secretly dating despite being married.

It is not known when or how Holmes’s wife and Robach’s husband, former Melrose Place actor Andrew Shue, 55, learned of the romance, but both couples went their separate ways in August this year, according to sources.

Holmes, 45, welcomed viewers to the lunchtime program Friday with a tongue-in-cheek remark alluding to the controversy, joking that it has been a ‘great week’ for the news anchor.

‘You know, it’s too bad it’s Friday. It’s been a great week,’ he said sarcastically, drawing giggles from Robach, who responded with: ‘Is it?’

‘I just want this one to keep going and going and going,’ he replied. ‘Just enjoy it. Take it all in.’

Robach shot back: ‘Speak for yourself. I’m excited about the weekend. And I’m sure everyone else is too.’

In another subtle quip later in the show, both Robach and Holmes broke out in giggles again during a health and wellness segment about stress relief with fellow co-host Dr. Jennifer Ashton.

As Ashton listed the benefits of art therapy, one of which is helping lower stress, Robach replied snickering: ‘We should get an art desk.’

Holmes, laughing, then chimed in saying: ‘We are taking art classes this weekend, Dr. Ashton.’

Earlier on Friday, after the show’s taping, Robach was seen moving out of the New York City home she once shared with her now estranged husband Andrew Shue, where she broke her silence on the controversy for the first time.

Robach appeared in good spirits despite the scandal, smiling and waving to the cameras before politely answering questions from DailyMail.com.

When asked if she had anything to say, Robach replied: ‘It’s been great. I’ve gotten a lot of support. And, you know, I appreciate everything, and I’m happy to be going to work,’ before getting into a black service car.

Sources say staff have also been left furious and dismayed by the way the affair has disrupted the newsroom.
