Christian singer Amy Grant has hit back at homophobic trolls who slammed her for hosting her niece’s same-sex wedding at her Hidden Trace Farm in Franklin, Tennessee,
The musician, 62, who has been referred to as the Queen of Christian Pop, was hit by discriminatory comments when she revealed her intentions to host her first ‘bride and bride wedding’ in December, but said she brushed off trolls’ comments online.
She told People: ‘I never chase any of those rabbits down the rabbit hole. I love my family, I love those brides. They’re wonderful, our family is better, and you should be able to be who you are with your family, and be loved by them.
The Grammy winner revealed her niece and wife got married on the same hillside where she tied the knot with husband Vince Gill in 2000.

She said: ‘I own a farm that I bought back in the ’90s and they were just looking for a beautiful place to get married. So, she and Sam got married on the same hillside where Vince and I got married.’
Grant first revealed her plans to host her niece’s wedding in a December interview with The Washington Post, in which she also detailed her niece’s coming out journey.
She said: ‘Jesus, you just narrowed it down to two things: love God and love each other. I mean, hey, that’s pretty simple.’
Of her reaction to her niece coming out as a lesbian, she added: ‘What a gift to our whole family to just widen the experience of our whole family.

Back in 2013, the star commented on homophobic attitudes towards the LGBTQ+ community and said her message was one of inclusivity.
She said: ‘I know that the religious community has not been very welcoming, but I just want to stress that the journey of faith brings us into community, but it’s really about one relationship.
‘The journey of faith is just being willing and open to have a relationship with God. And everybody is welcome. Everybody.’
Elsewhere in the interview the star revealed her husband Vince’s support was important in her recovery after her scary bike crash last year.
She said she now feels ‘fantastic’ as she arrived Saturday at the Music Center in Los Angeles for an event honoring Jerry Moss.
Last July, the country singer was injured in a bicycle accident in Nashville, Tennessee and had to cancel multiple tour dates.
The Grammy Award-winning hitmaker told People that the support of her husband — the 65-year-old singer — made all the difference during recovery.

‘The biggest thing was in the two months after the wreck, it was really depressing,’ the mother-of-four said.
‘Everything canceled, and I just said, “What if I’m never all the way back?”‘
‘He said, “Things happen to people every day, and you just have to take one day at a time, and we’re here, and I love you”, she recalled.
‘And that just kind of made every day of the journey okay,’ she added. ‘And I do feel fantastic.’

She suffered cuts and abrasions from the accident.
Grant was wearing a helmet but also suffered a severe head injury and was unconscious for 10 minutes.
She told People that although she has recovered, she still faces low stamina and ‘memory issues.’
‘Well, [the doctors] said a 12 to 18–month recovery for a head injury,’ she said.
She added that ‘every once in a while, I’ll be talking to somebody, and they’ll say something that I guess I used to know, and I’ll gasp and go, “Are you kidding me?”‘
She was hospitalized in stable condition after her accident, but her doctor ordered extra recovery time, forcing her to cancel tour dates and postpone performances.
Since then, she has returned to the stage.
