I’m A Celeb’s Owen Warner admits he doesn’t know what A Place In The Sun is as presenter Scarlette Douglas arrives in hilarious gaffe (and has to be set straight by Boy George!)

Owen Warner revealed he has never heard of A Place in the Sun, as he made his debut on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Sunday’s opening episode.

The Hollyoaks actor, 23, admitted he had know idea what the hit Channel 4 show is despite his new campmate Scarlette Douglas being the presenter. 

It was left to singer Boy George to fill the young actor in that A Place In The Sun is not an actual place but a TV show.

In the opening scenes, the 80’s hitmaker, 61, was the first celeb to arrive followed by Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver, 59.

Owen was the third celeb to join the pair and said he had to keep ‘pinching himself’ as he made his arrival. 

As Scarlette arrived last the Karma Chameleon singer Boy George told Owen: ‘She’s from A Place In The Sun,’ in which he asked: ‘Whereabouts?’

Boy George replied: ‘No, like the TV show.’

Following the funny moment, rugby star Mike Tindall joined the stars ahead of Ant and Dec appearing by boat to fill the celebrities in on their journey to camp. 

Dec revealed: ‘You’re not going to be making the journey to camp together. One of you has already been chosen by the public as a Jungle VIP.’ 

Boy George was made the VIP and chose presenter Scarlette to be his plus one for a delicious meal for two on a luxury yacht.

Asked why he chose her Boy George said: ‘Her outfit! She looks good, her earrings are great.’

Scarlette replied: ‘We’ll bring the glam to the Jungle!’ 

Owen, Mike and Sue quickly boarded a helicopter jetting off into the jungle to face Critter Cruise collecting stars for camp. 

Leading this year’s lineup are Love Island star Olivia Attwood, DJ Chris Moyles, Loose Women’s Charlene White, comedian Babatúndé Aléshé and retired England Lioness Jill Scott.

It was revealed on Tuesday that Matt Hancock is also heading to the Australian jungle as a surprise late arrival.
