Celebrities and their families pulled out all the stops for World Book Day on Thursday.

While the day is traditionally celebrated by children at school, Amanda Holden couldn’t resist a chance to dress up.

The TV personality, 51, even got her co-hosts Jamie Theakston and Ashley Roberts involved, as the trio dressed up as the characters from the famous children’s novel The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.

Amanda put on a very leggy display in a blue gingham pinafore and donned the iconic red heels as she transformed into Dorothy Gale.

She styled her golden locks in pigtails and opted for a glam makeup look while striking a pose with a woven basket.

Getting in on the act, Jamie dressed as The Tin Man and showbiz reporter Ashley looked unrecognisable as The Cowardly Lion while posing in the Heart FM studio.

Ashley showed off her incredible figure in a brown skin-tight catsuit, while boosting her height in a pair of heels.

Meanwhile, Amanda’s youngest daughter Hollie, 11, looked fantastic as she struck a pose while dressed as the gothic character Wednesday.

Hollie rocked the costume which included an old fashioned dress and a creepy hand on her head.

Helen Flanagan shared a sweet snap of her three kids, Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and son Charlie, who she shares with her ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair.

Alongside a slew of snaps, the star wrote: ‘Its book day for my Dj today folks! My baby girl is going as Wednesday Adams!’

Ashley James made sure she was among the celebrity tributes by sharing a snap of herself reading to toddler son Alfie, who looked adorable as The Gruffalo. 

Caroline and Adam Thomson’s kids Teddy and Elsie-Rose looked unrecognisable as Mr Harry Wormwood and Ms Trunchbull from Roald Dahl’s Matilda.

Kimberley Walsh’s kids posed for a snap in their costumes before heading off to school.

Bobby donned a suit, transforming into the Accidental Secret Agent by Tom McLaughlin, while Cole was inspired by Cops and Robbers by Janet & Allan Ahlberg.

In a lengthy caption, she penned: ‘Needless to say World book day crept up on us again but thankfully the school wanted everyone to be sustainable and work with what we had at home so that’s what we did. 

‘Bobby rocking his fave suit as the ‘Accidental Secret Agent by Tom McLaughlin (with an actual spy camera pen he already had) and Cole the old ‘ Cops and Robbers’ by Janet & Allan Ahlberg. All was well until Bobby freaked out about not having his curls seconds before he went into school’

The actress, 30, gave her followers a glimpse at their amazing costumes as Ella, seven, and Mia, three, transformed into their favourite characters.

Sharing a series of snaps to Instagram, Jac showed Mia with her hair sprayed black and plaiting into Wednesday’s iconic pigtails.

She completed her costume with a collared swing dress and kept a straight face as she mimicked the character’s blank expression.

Meanwhile, Mia looked adorable as the Beatrix Potter character, with a plush, stuffed rabbit hat.

David Walliams took to Instagram on Thursday to share a rare snap of son Alfred as they celebrated World Book Day .

The fiercely private star, 51, never the less hid the nine-year-old’s face behind a mask as the little one dressed as a character from David’s book Space Boy.

Alfred went all out for the big day with a huge silver helmet complete with antenna attached to the top.

Looking just like the book’s cover he wore a full suit with matching gloves, chest plate and a long cape.

David, who shares Alfred with his Dutch model ex-wife Lara Stone , proudly posed with his mini-me as they strolled to school.

He captioned the snaps: ‘Me & my little SPACEBOY for #WORLDBOOKDAY’ 

World Book Day is a registered charity that aims to give every child and young person a book of their own.

It also celebrates the work of authors, illustrators, books and reading in general. A worldwide celebration, it is honoured in over 100 countries across the world.

It comes after Amanda made a very cheeky comment while attempting the viral TikTok ‘pickle’ trend during her Heart Breakfast Show on Wednesday morning.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge hilariously took part in the viral challenge on her morning show alongside her amused co-host Ashley Roberts.

The Pickle Trend is where people try ginormous packaged pickles as a snack and Amanda tucked into the Van Holten’s Hot Pickle on-air on Wednesday morning.

Amanda appeared to be enjoying the challenge as she made a very cheeky comment while trying the pickle as she joked that she was ‘used to bigger’.

Ahead of trying the snack, s he said: ‘It smells amazing… I’m gonna drink the pickle juice. Tastes a bit like the sea but with chilli pepper in it. Now let’s have a look at this baby.’

To which Ashley responded: ‘Woah! That is a big papa pickle! Oh em gee honey, that’s large’.

And Amanda replied: ‘I’m used to bigger, I’m going to say… Oh my god it’s gorgeous. I really like it.’

The Pussycat Doll singer added: ‘I feel like you’re quite enjoying this Amanda.’
