She described problems such as her hair falling out, skin issues and uncontrollable hormones.

Abbey began: ‘You know I had so many problems in pregnancy. I was literally ill for nine months.

‘My hair was falling out like ridiculous. I had acne, remember that rash I had like all over my whole body, literally like a tin of beans.’

Peter added: ‘Takes it’s toll doesn’t it, it’s like a natural thing so you think oh every woman should – it’s hard.’

Abbey agreed: ‘It’s so hard and you know when you can’t control your hormones, a thing that Pete thought I made up by the way.’

Peter jumped in: ‘Yeah but there’s not being able to control your hormones and then there’s like whatever you were.’

Abbey insisted: ‘You can’t control it!’

Peter quipped: ‘Come on though like seriously. You know when she had the baby, every single one of them. I mean it was hard for both of us.

‘And then when the baby came out, it felt like the Green Mile. You know where he breathes out and all the badness goes away, it was literally like that I swear!

‘It’s like the baby came out, and out her vagina, like all this bad energy just left the room and then she was just Ab again and I was like god I love you.’

Abbey’s candidness comes the star admitted she is a ‘freak in the sheets’ when it comes to her love life with husband Peter.

Taking a trip down memory lane, the pair recounted on their show how they met at a birthday party in Liverpool underneath a restaurant where Abbey worked as a waitress.

Peter said: ‘Ab came over to me. It was insane. I couldn’t pull a hamstring in London. I went up to Liverpool and then you came over and I was like: ‘Wow — this place is incredible.

Abbey replied: ‘You scored that day. That was your first goal.’

Peter went on: ‘I was struggling. Then, bang — I scored two and my hat-trick was Ab in the evening.

‘You came over, and this sounds corny, but I have never seen a more beautiful girl in my life. I always remember your eyes. Your mum has got them as well. They’re incredible.’

It was a good night for Peter anyway as he was out celebrating scoring twice against Wigan at Anfield after no goals for 18 games.

He said: ‘You came over, and this sounds corny, but I have never seen a more beautiful girl in my life.

The connection was instant for the couple, with Abbey insisting she knew he was The One on that first date.

She said: ‘I knew from the day I met you that we were going to be together forever. Call that sounds corny but I did know that and I thought, ‘I don’t want to rush this.”

The former Britain’s Next Top Model star arrived to the date with only £7 in her purse and admitted she’d never bought a drink for anyone before.

She said: ‘Pete got the first drink, then I thought I would get the next one. I had never bought a drink in my life. I didn’t even know how much it was.

‘Pete wanted Guinness. So I went to the bar, got Guinness and a glass of tap water because I was scared it was going to be more than £7.’

Despite not having the smoothest of starts, the couple is still going strong 17 years later, and seeming still in love as ever having renewed their vowels in the Maldives over Christmas.
