It comes after Mike Tindall was confirmed as the latest I’m A Celebrity star.

There have been rumblings for weeks that the royal and former England rugby international would be the first member of the royal family to take part on the gruelling endurance show.

And now Mike, 44, is the seventh contestant to have confirmed his place on the show by arriving in the country, which he has described as a ‘special place’ because it is where he met his wife, Zara Phillips, 41.

It has been reported that Tindall will receive a £150,000 payday for his appearance on the show.

There remains four other stars who are yet to be officially confirmed for this year’s series.

Mike was spotted arriving in Brisbane on Friday morning ahead of his upcoming stint in the jungle, as I’m A Celeb was recently confirmed to be beginning on Sunday November 6.

Mike, who married King Charles’ niece Zara in 2011, told The Sun: ‘It’s probably one of the longest times we’ve been away completely with no communication. When you go away you still have communication, so that’s obviously going to be the hardest bit.

AUSTRALIA ‘HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HIS HEART’

Mike told how Australia is special to him because it is where he met his now wife Zara in 2003.

The couple met at at the Manly Wharf bar in Sydney during the Rugby World Cup.

Arriving on Friday, Mike told The Sun: ‘Australia is a special place yeah, I met Zara in Sydney. There is no holiday planned at the moment afterwards. ‘

The former rugby player told the Daily Mail in 2011, that ‘[Zara] was on her gap year and in Australia with friends. Clive (Woodward, the coach) had just told me I was dropped for the semi-final, so I went out for a beer with two others who weren’t playing, Martin Corry and Austin Healey.’

After they met for the first time, Zara left her number with a friend to pass on to Mike.

He said: ‘Later on, Austin gave me her number and said, ‘She wants you to text her, to say where you’re all going out after the final so she can come along.’

‘You’ve just got to get your head around doing what you’re doing and try and win some stars and stuff and see where you go from there. I want to win stars because I want to eat!

‘The hanger is always going to be the biggest thing you have got to worry about but I’ve also got three kids, so dealing with lack of sleep comes with the territory.’

Popular culture and brand expert Nick Ede previously told MailOnline that the show will be a great move for ‘brand Tindall’.

‘I am sure Mike will have been paid in excess of £150,000 to appear, but the true value of the show is what you do after it,’ he said.

‘Whether he gets a prime role as a sports pundit or panelist or host of a show who knows but for ‘brand Tindall’ this is a great step and will increase his celebrity equity ten fold. All eyes will be on Mike this year.’

He also believes that Mike’s ‘devotion’ to his royal wife Zara, 41, made him popular with Brits, after he married into the Royal Family and became the son-in-law of Princess Anne in 2011.

He added: ‘There may well be two kings in the Royal Family this year – one of the crown and one of the jungle.’

Also believed to be taking part is this year’s biggest signing: Boy George, who has secured the biggest paycheque in the show’s history to take part.

MailOnline revealed the Karma Chameleon hitmaker secured a payday of almost $1million to take part, with a source saying: ‘It’s been a long time since we had a huge global star film the show and he will no doubt draw viewers.

Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner has also joined this year’s line-up and admitted that he is ‘always looking for romance’.

He told The Mirror: ‘My mum is the one who is going to be the one missing me. I am single and ready for the jungle!’

Preparations are well underway in Australia for the much-anticipated new series of the show, as it returns Down Under for the first time since the Covid pandemic

Among the sets being erected for the new series are the famous Walk The Plank challenge atop a 32-storey building on the Gold Coast, where celebrities will be have to walk to the edge of the terrifying platform before moving into the jungle camp.

Elsewhere, miles away in the heart of the jungle, crew members have also been spotted preparing various sets for the Bushtucker Trials, including a Wild West setting, a large swimming pool and a merry-go-round.

As the countdown continues to the return of I’m A Celebrity, the Walk The Plank was being prepared at the top of the perilous high-rise, with the brand new addition of a third platform.

Previous years have seen celebrities compete for more luxury when they enter camp by walking towards the star at the end of the platform, leading many stars to face their crippling fear of heights.

Like previous years, the celebrities will be split into two teams where they will compete for the chance to spend their first night in a slightly better camp than the others.
