Furious Allison Langdon hits back at reports she ‘threw a tantrum’ when she wasn’t chosen to host Nine’s election night coverage – as her Today co-host Karl Stefanovic jumps to her defence

Today show host Allison Langdon has hit back at claims she ‘threw a tantrum’ after being overlooked by Channel Nine for the network’s election night coverage.

Both Langdon and her co-anchor Karl Stefanovic strongly denied the reports during an interview on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday.

‘The was no outburst,’ a defiant Langdon told radio presenter Kyle Sandilands.

‘I am many things but I am not a diva,’ the 42-year-old added.

She said the election night coverage was being handled by Nine News, not the morning TV department, so she didn’t feel snubbed.

‘The newsroom is running the election and that’s totally fine. Alicia [Loxley] and Pete [Overton] will do a great job,’ she said.

Stefanovic also rubbished The Sunday Telegraph‘s report that Langdon ‘had a tantrum’ after finding out that Melbourne newsreader Alicia Loxley had landed the election night gig instead of her.

‘I just find it appalling that a woman like Ally, who is just fully committed to the job and works so hard and is a great mum, just gets taken down – for what? For trying to do her job?’ he said.

He later added: ‘There’s no one here at Channel Nine that would’ve seen her have a “tantrum” because it didn’t happen.’

According to The Telegraph, Langdon was ‘not happy’ that Loxley had been chosen to front Nine’s prime-time election broadcast with Peter Overton.

She was reportedly so frustrated with the decision that she raised her dissatisfaction two weeks ago with Nine’s director of news Darren Wick.

Nine previously denied the claims to Daily Mail Australia, with a spokeswoman insisting there had been no ‘tantrum’ from Langdon.

A number of changes are rumoured to be coming to Today in the near future, including making beauty queen Scherri-Lee Biggs a permanent weather presenter.

Entertainment reporter Brooke Boney could also be made a ‘roving reporter’ for the show, according to The Sunday Telegraph.
