MAFS bride is stunned to silence when asked if couples are ‘faking it’

A Married At First Sight star was lost for words when asked during a live TV interview if some couples are faking their relationships for publicity.

Lyndall Grace appeared on Today Extra on Monday to discuss the previous night’s commitment ceremony, which saw Bronte Schofield and Harrison Boon backflip on their decision to break up by agreeing to stay in the experiment for another week.

There has been speculation Bronte and Harrison made a secret pact to stay on the show to boost their profiles, despite knowing for weeks their marriage was doomed.

Lyndall, 27, who was vocal in expressing her shock and disappointment at Bronte’s decision on Sunday, was asked by host David Campbell whether she suspected the pair had only voted stay to extend their screen time.

The question stunned her to silence for six extremely uncomfortable seconds.

The awkwardness started when David’s co-host Sylvia Jeffreys asked Lyndall: ‘Do you like Harrison?’

She squirmed then looked away from the camera and said: ‘Next question.’

David then asked: ‘Okay, do you think they said stay just to stay on telly?’

A lengthy silence followed as Lyndall, who was being interviewed via video link from Perth, thought carefully about her answer.

‘I don’t think so,’ she sighed, after six seconds of radio silence.

The accountant then explained Harrison ‘always has a trick up his sleeve’ and was able to make Bronte stay by convincing her she had to ‘win him back’.

‘He really made her feel like she had to redeem herself to him,’ Lyndall explained.

‘[He] really made her feel like if she didn’t try to repair things with him, it was going to look bad on [her].

‘When you’re in that position, and you don’t have any control over anything, I think she just really committed to trying to get him back on side.’

'As Bronte's confidante, I feel in disbelief about what I'm listening to. I sit here and I feel f**king stupid,' added a furious Lyndall

Expert John Aiken was gobsmacked over Bronte’s decision and begged her to help him ‘understand’ the reasoning behind it.

Bronte told the group they did not understand ‘what happened behind closed doors’, adding that she and Harrison had worked things out in private.

‘I don’t think Harrison has emotionally manipulated my feelings. My relationship with him is absolutely real,’ she said.
