Saturday Night Takeaway fans were left fighting back tears this weekend as Ant McPartlin performed sign language to two competition-winning deaf brothers.

The TV host and co-star Declan Donnelly, both 47, were in the audience of the ITV show giving out a ‘Place on the Plane’ to the show’s live final in Orlando, Florida to deserving audience members and viewers.

And Ant proved he was a conscientious host as he appeared to learn British Sign Language when telling brothers Tony and Tosin Kalejaiye that they’ve bagged themselves a spot on the plane thanks to their amazing fundraising.

Approaching the shocked siblings in the crowd, Ant said: ‘Hi guys! Tony and Tosin were both born deaf.

‘They were fitted with cochlear implants at the age of two but they were determined to help others in the same situation.

With a fifth person adding: ‘#SaturdayNightTakeaway trying to make me cry with ant doing sign language with the place on the plane.’

The viewer reaction comes in stark contrast to last week’s show which was slammed with 111 complaints to broadcasting regulator Ofcom for a ‘bad’ prank on a first-time dad.

The show, which is fronted by British TV presenting legends Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, saw serial jokester Liam pranked by wife Amy by having a fake baby scan, antenatal class and after their son Finley was born, a fake baby photoshoot.

But on Saturday, their prank segment was not received as well as it normally does as fans dubbed it ‘rank’ and that it made them feel ‘uncomfortable’.

Ant said: 'They've been fundraising since they were just four years old and so far they've raised an incredible £25.000 to help other deaf children across the world. We think you're incredible...'

In the scan scene, a video played of a baby which was not Liam and Amy’s, making rock star signs when the song Bohemian Rhapsody came on and also waving.

The bizarre sketch also saw the child play hide and seek, leaving Liam amazed.

Ofcom have confirmed to MailOnline that they received 111 complaints following the airing of Saturday night’s live episode.

Their statement read: ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, ITV1, 25 February 2023 (111 complaints).

‘Complaints related to the series of pranks played on a husband throughout his wife’s pregnancy.’

However, some fans of the show revealed that the prank left a bad taste in their mouth, taking to Twitter to say that the sketch was not appropriate or appreciated.

One person wrote: ‘Nah sorry that #SaturdayNightTakeaway skit of the parents at the scan is just a bit rank.

‘As someone trying for a baby for 13 years, my absolute dream is to be at a scan. You don’t get more important personal experiences like that in life.

‘Not nice. Even if you are a “prankster.”

Another added: ‘Love Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway but the baby scan prank wasn’t cool.’

But not everyone was irritated by the prank, with some viewers taking to Twitter to reveal that they thought it was funny.

One person said: ‘People getting offended by the prank, now people are moaning about the balloons… my god just shut up and enjoy!!

‘Why do people have to suck the life out of everything, it’s boring.’

Another wrote: ‘Shut up all you snowflakes whinging about ant and dec prank. It’s called having a laugh which you aren’t allowed to do now, if not happy just switch off.’

A third added: ‘He literally found it funny tho’, in response to a frustrated tweet about the skit.

And a separate person said: ‘Just be happy for the couple and the lovely baby. We all go through s**t.

The end of the prank segment saw Ant and Dec reveal to the Amy and Liam that they had set up a child saver account for Finley and they were putting £1,000 in it per year until he turned 18.

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
