Susanna Reid has claimed she doesn’t need a partner as she’s ‘perfectly happy’ with her own company.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 52, was last known to be in a relationship with Crystal Palace F.C. chairman Steve Parish, 57, who she began dating in August 2018 before their split nine months later.
Her previous partner was sports journalist Dominic Cotton, 55, who she was with between 1998 and 2014 – they share sons Sam, 20, Finn, 18, and Jack, 17.
While detailing her daily routine, Susanna wrote in The Sunday Times Magazine: ‘My mornings are intense with the adrenaline of live news, so switching off is hard.
‘I’m perfectly happy with my own company – I talk to people all day, I have a terrific team and I love my close-knit family – but I don’t need a partner. When the boys leave home, I know that’s going to be challenging.
Good for her! Susanna Reid has claimed she doesn’t need a partner as she’s ‘perfectly happy’ with her own company – but that it will be ‘challenging’ when her three sons leave home
‘In the evening I like gentle TV, nothing gruesome. A bath is a must, it completely de-stresses me. On a good night I switch the lights off at 10pm and I’m asleep within minutes.’
In her piece, Susanna admitted there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes before viewers see her appear on the box at 6am.
She offered a rundown of what an average day looks like, which begins with a 3.40am wakeup call from her alarm clock.
Susanna revealed that she gives herself five minutes in bed to check through her emails and the days’ headlines before getting up to begin her day. Â
The mother of three said that the start of her day is quite rushed as she throws on a coat over her pyjamas and brushes her teeth before getting into the car, which has been sent to take her to the studio.
The time in the car is put to very good use, as she gets caught up to speed on the newspapers and briefs of the interviewees due on the show that day.
Susanna also takes time to look over the stories that the researchers and producers have been putting together overnight.
She explained that the most important document she looks over on the journey is what’s known as the Grid, which gives timings and key points for the show.

Happier times:Â Her previous partner was sports journalist Dominic Cotton, 55, who she was with between 1998 and 2014 – they share sons Sam, 20, Finn, 18, and Jack, 17
Susanna admitted that it is ‘a lot’ to take in during the 25 minute car journey from her house to the studio at London Television Centre, in west London.
Once in the studio, Susanna sits down to have her hair and make-up done by a professional, while having her first coffee of the day at 4.25.
She said during this time she also continues catching up on any reading for the show.
Susanna added that she is then joined by the overnight editor for the show as well as her co-presenter for that particular day.
Her co-stars are Richard Madeley, Ed Balls, Rob Rinder, Martin Lewis, Ben Shephard or Adil Ray.
She joked just like Bruce Forsyth used to say, they are all her favourites.
Susanna doesn’t manage to eat before the show but revealed that she does try and sneak in some sliced apple and sunflower-seed butter during the adverts.
Once the cameras stop rolling, Susanna heads home and tries to sleep for a couple of hours before getting up for lunch.
She said that she tries to have a healthy option such as grilled fish and veg.
In the evening, Susanna unwinds by cooking a homemade meal for her sons, which she said is often something like lasagne or a roast.Â
However this time isn’t for total relaxation, as she is usually receiving new briefs and catching up with her editor about the next day’s programme.
Susanna said she finishes her day with some easy watching TV – ‘nothing gruesome’ and enjoys having a bath to relax before switching off the lights at 10pm.
Good Morning Britain is on weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX
