The star then shared a very similar message on her Instagram Stories, but added: ‘Love is love’ to the end with a beating heart sticker.

A slew of stars took to the comment section, including Carol’s newly-single pal Vanessa Feltz, who commented: ‘And to you my darling chum ❤️’.

Last month, Carol gave a very candid insight into her complicated love life, explaining that she’s ‘not into one night stands’ but dates multiple men whom she affectionately names her ‘special friends’.

Appearing on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast, the star was probed on whether she was in a relationship.

To which she quipped: ‘No! I’m having the best time. I’ve spoken about this once. I have a system which I’ve had for 10 years. They’re called ‘special friends’.

‘I spoke a couple of months ago about having ‘special friends’ and it was like, again, the world had fallen in for some people but actually what I found was there was an awful lot of women who said “I’d never thought about it like this”.’

Carol added she has been in ‘long term relationships, if you like’ with her special friends – and has been dating some for years.

Later that month, she expanded on her love life during an appearance on This Morning, sharing: ‘They do know about each other now. We all have to be on the same page. They have their lives and I don’t need to know about that’.

Going on to reveal that her one rule is always to ‘do no harm’.

‘When I was in my 20s I wanted to get married and have children. In my 60s I have a full life and I live with my children’.

Carol has been single since she split from journalist Des Kelly in 2007, after being married twice, first to Christopher Mather from 1985 to 1986 and then to second husband Patrick King from 1990 until 2000. The couple share two children.
