Is Glee CURSED? KAYLA BRANTLEY examines how the cast of the feel-good hit show was plagued by overdoses, drownings, suicide and controversy

A new documentary, ‘The Price of Glee, ‘ examines the fallout from Ryan Murphy’s hit sitcom that followed high school kids in their school’s unpopular show choir.

While the show catapulted its relatively unknown cast into stardom, it has also been plagued by controversy and the shocking and unfortunate deaths of several of its main characters, leading some to believe the show is cursed.

Cory Monteith, Glee’s jock-turned-leading man Finn Hudson, was found dead of an alcohol and heroin overdose in a hotel room in Vancouver in July 2013, aged 31.

Mark Salling, the ‘bad boy’ of Glee, was charged with possessing child pornography and pleaded guilty to downloading 25,000 sexual images of children. Salling hung himself in a forest in Los Angeles in January 2018, just weeks before being sentenced.

In June 2020, actress Naya Rivera was found dead at Lake Piru in California. The actress who played Santana Lopez had gone out on a rented pontoon boat with her then four-year-old son and drowned.
