Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ‘is contact by Terrell Owens, 49, about potential comeback’

Amid the Dallas Cowboys‘ reported on-again-off-again interest in free agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr., former team wideout Terrell Owens has reportedly reached out to owner Jerry Jones about rejoining the club ahead of a playoff run.

Of course, Owens is already enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and, at 49, would surpass Raiders legend George Blanda as the oldest player in NFL history.

Neither Cowboys spokespeople nor Owens’s agent immediately responded to a request for confirmation. Sports Illustrated was the first to report Owens’ interest in a comeback.

A polarizing player in his day, Owens is considered among the greatest receivers in football history. The former Chattanooga star never won a Super Bowl, but was a five-time First Team All-Pro before ending his NFL career with the Bengals in 2010. He attempted a comeback with the Seattle Seahawks in 2012, but never played in a regular-season game for the team. 

He is best remembered for his years in San Francisco, where he teamed with Jerry Rice and JJ Stokes to form one of the NFL’s most feared receiving corps. 

Later, he would ultimately land in Philadelphia, where he and quarterback Donovan McNabb helped lead the Eagles to an NFC crown and an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIX, where they would fall to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
