Simon Cowell’s beauty regime, which already includes Botox, fillers and much careful tending and tinting of hair, has been expanded to include the regular use of a £25-a -time Insta-famous face mask from South Korea.
The cult Hanacure face masks promise instant tightening and brightening and the ‘reversal’ of numerous signs of ageing including wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and loss of elasticity.
A gel and serum are painted onto the skin and the reaction between them makes the mask dry to a rigid crust which makes speaking, eating and drinking impossible for about 30 minutes, before being washed off.
A friend in the Cowell camp says that he recently started using them and swears by the results. The recommendation is to use one a week for a month. A pal said: ‘He’s a big fan and has been turning his friends and colleagues onto them as well.’ This is said to explain his current shining glow.

Other celebrity fans of Hanacure, which was launched in 2017, include Kim Kardashian and actress Drew Barrymore, who shared pictures of herself at the ‘crust’ stage on Instagram. One beauty writer said that it made her look like one of the Stone Men in Game of Thrones.
Cowell, 63, has long been open about his beauty regime. Fifteen years ago he was cheerfully admitting to Botox when it was regarded as unusual. He said: ‘I’ve had Botox, but then again pretty much everyone I know has. To me, Botox is no more unusual than toothpaste. It works. You do it once a year – who cares?’
And when asked about what he had done and when, he would often joke: ‘Maintenance is a bitch!’
He’s undergone several health challenges in recent years. He was hospitalised in October 2017 after fainting at home in London and falling down the stairs. He said: ‘Sometimes we get a reminder that we’re not invincible and this was certainly mine.
‘It was a huge shock. They think I fainted because I had low blood pressure and so I have got to take good care of myself to sort that out.’
He began a diet, losing three stone. He denied having had a gastric band fitted after America’s Got Talent viewers were shocked at how different he looked.

He said: ‘People have said: “Oh, he’s had a gastric band fitted” – but I haven’t. If I had, I would admit to it. This diet is all about what you put into your body.’
He went on: ‘I met this doctor in LA and he told me my diet was appalling and I had to cut out fatty foods and certain drinks. I could see the difference. Cutting out sugar made a massive difference.’
Some viewers of X Factor: Celebrity in 2019 were concerned about the fact he appeared be slurring’ his words, but he simply had new veneers on his teeth.
There were also reports of a neck lift or thread face lift at this time, but he didn’t confirm them. He said: ‘There’s lots of things you can do now. You don’t just have to stuff your face with filler and Botox. But you have to be very careful with some of this stuff.’
In August 2020 he broke his back after falling off his electric bike in Malibu. He had a six-hour operation and metal rods put in his back. As part of his recovery he took up walking as a hobby.

Cowell is currently on holiday in Barbados with fiancé Lauren Silverman and their son Eric. On Christmas Eve last year he proposed to her on a beach in the same country in front of Eric and Cowell’s stepson, Adam.
However despite rumours that they will tie the knot in the Caribbean this year, I’m told: ‘You can rest easy, there won’t be a wedding this Christmas.’
Plans are developing, very slowly, for a tiny wedding at some point next year, most likely in the UK.
Comedian Frank Skinner said: ‘I remember Simon Cowell when he had his first face. I’ve known him a long time. The current one is a bit Slipknot. It’s actually quite terrifying.
‘It looks like his nose is juggling his eyes. They are at different levels. A man of his money you’d think could get the best plastic surgeon in the world.’
