King Charles and Prince William have both refused to comment on the extraordinary claims made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the explosive finale to their Netflix mini-series released today.
Senior members of the Royal Family are heading to Westminster Abbey to support the Princess of Wales‘ Together at Christmas carol concert this evening as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ramped up their war with them and the British media.
Before heading to the London church were he will be crowned next year, it was business as usual for the King who met an ambassador from Kazakhstan at Buckingham Palace this morning amid claims he will never watch the six-part series.
The Sussexes have used their latest Netflix shows to wound Prince William and King Charles and claim that dark forces blocked the Queen from seeing them before Megxit. Harry also said his family were upset and jealous of Meghan’s popularity so pursued a vendetta against her because she was ‘doing the job better’ and ‘stealing the limelight’ from ‘those born to do it’.
But today, despite the slew of incendiary claims in three hours of new interviews and footage, Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace declined to comment on anything in the series.
The Duke of Sussex has accused his brother, pictured together on Harry’s wedding day, of screaming at him while discussing Megxit. Harry also spoke about their heartbreaking rift

Harry and Meghan’s final Netflix episodes cover their wedding, leaving the UK and building a new life in the US
Harry told of the ‘heartbreaking’ rift with his brother who he claimed had scared him in January 2020 while he ‘screamed and shouted’ at him in front of his father and grandmother when he tried to thrash out a deal to leave the UK.
The Duke of Sussex said: ‘They were happy to lie to protect my brother and yet they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us’.
The Duke of Sussex said William and Charles refused to bless the couple’s request for a ‘half in half out’ Megxit that would allow them to earn a fortune while picking and choosing royal duties and keeping all their titles.
He alleged his older brother, now heir to the throne, scared him in January 2020 while he ‘screamed and shouted’ at him in front of his father and grandmother when he tried to thrash out a deal to leave the UK.
Harry also accused Charles of telling untruths to his face and Her Majesty of saying nothing at the now infamous ‘Sandringham Summit’.
He said: ‘It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me and my father say things that just simply weren’t true. And my grandmother, you know, quietly sit there and take it all in’.
The Duke of Sussex claimed: ‘I went in with the same proposal that we’d already made publicly, but once I got there I was given five options – one being all in, no change, five being all out. I chose option three in the meeting – half in, half out. Have our own jobs but also work in support of the Queen. It became very clear very quickly that goal was not up for discussion or debate’.
Harry then claimed the Palace did not seek his permission to put out a joint statement denying claims William ‘bullied’ the Sussexes out of the Royal Family. Viewers said that Harry was implying that William did. He said: ‘I couldn’t believe it. No one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that… [Meghan] burst into floods of tears, because within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother… and yet they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.’
He also denied it was Meghan’s decision to walk away and move to LA. ‘In fact, it was my decision. She never asked to leave. I was the one that had to see it for myself. But it’s misogyny at its best,’ he said.
Today’s final three episodes of the docu-series will particularly infuriate and upset William, who was accused of leaving his younger brother ‘terrified’ after allegedly yelling at him in front of the Queen and Charles during final Megxit talks at Sandringham in 2020.
Harry claims Meghan ‘burst into tears’ in Canada when he recounted the row over the phone afterwards before saying that without his permission, his name was added to a joint statement with William ‘squashing’ claims the now Prince of Wales was bullying Harry out of The Firm.
The couple then said they were ‘blocked’ by royal figures from speaking to the Queen alone to discuss emigrating, with Harry claiming he was forced to write to his father to say that he and his wife were willing to relinquish their titles if the couple’s plan to move to Canada as working royals did not work out.
Meghan said: ‘I tried so hard and that’s the piece that’s so triggering, because you go ‘and it still wasn’t good enough… and you still don’t fit in’.
Harry then suggested that William had chosen the Royal Family’s future over his brother.
Harry said: ‘The saddest part of it was this wedge created between myself and my brother so that he’s now on the institution’s side. Part of that, I get. That’s his inheritance. So to some extent it’s already ingrained in him that part of his responsibility is the survivability and the continuation of this institution.’
Harry and Meghan said that the royals were upset they were ‘better’ at the job, accusing the palace of briefing against them
Meghan Markle hinted that the royals initially baulked at her because she was different to them and then became jealous of her popularity
Meghan said she asked Charles to walk her down the aisle after she told him she had lost a father, a nod to her estrangement from Thomas Markle
Harry said going back for Philip’s funeral was ‘hard’ in 2021.
He added: ‘Especially spending time having chats with my brother and father who were just very much focused on the same misinterpretation of the whole situation.
‘None of us really wanted to talk about it at my grandfather’s funeral, but we did. And I have had to make peace with the fact that I am probably never going to get genuine accountability or a genuine apology.
‘My wife and I were focused on what’s coming next.’
Today the Sussexes’ Netflix docu-series reached a crescendo today as they launched more salvoes at the Royal Family over Megxit and claims William, Kate and Charles were jealous of their popularity and hated them ‘stealing the limelight’.
The couple said they were ‘better’ at royal duties than others and that stuck in the craw of Harry’s family, who didn’t Meghan being treated like a ‘royal rock star’ after they married in 2018.
Harry said palace officials began ‘leaking and planting’ negative stories about them.
The Duke of Sussex also drew more comparisons between his wife and his mother, claiming Princess Diana was forced out for the same reason because she outshone those who were ‘born to do this’, like his father and brother.
Episode 4 said that their first tour of Australia in October 2018, where Meghan’s pregnancy was revealed, went so well that ‘the palace were incredibly threatened by that’.
Harry said: ‘The issue is when someone who’s marrying in should be a supporting act is then stealing the limelight or is doing the job better than the person who was born to do this. That upsets people. It shifts the balance’.
Today it also emerged:
In the fifth episode of the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, the Duke of Sussex said it was ‘terrifying’ for his brother, now the Prince of Wales, to ‘scream and shout’ at him during a meeting on January 13 at Sandringham about plans for Harry and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, to move abroad.
Meghan said she was not protected by the royals when she suffered mental health problems. The docu-series then cut to her mother Doria Ragland, who said: ‘I remember her telling me that she wanted to take her own life’.

The new episodes are full of candid snaps, including when they were expecting their first child
Meghan and Harry said their tours were so successful that it became a problem for their royals
Meghan was compared to a ‘rock star’ after she entered the family
Meghan said that the Royal Family refused to help her when she said she felt suicidal because it looked bad for them.
The final three parts of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s docuseries have gone live and take in their 2018 Windsor Castle wedding, the decision to quit royal duties and emigrate and their new life in their £11million Montecito mega-mansion.
Meghan then said the situation turned against them, blaming the media and his family. She said that on a walkabout in Liverpool one woman: ‘What you are doing to your father is not right’ – a nod to her estranged relationship with Thomas Markle.
The Duke of Sussex spoke about the moment when ‘the penny dropped’ for Meghan in the fourth episode of their Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan – and said the situation spiraled from there.
He said: ‘The first time that the penny dropped for her, M (Meghan) and I spent the night in a room at Buckingham Palace after an event where every member of the family, senior members of the family had been, including the Queen.
‘And on the front page of the Telegraph, Meghan. She was like ‘but it’s not my fault’ – and my mum felt the same way.’
They also claim there is a conspiracy against them between Buckingham Palace and the British press to ‘scapegoat’ them to ensure negative press about other royals would ‘go away’.
Meghan suggested that the royals had been revolted by her because she wasn’t like them, hinting that it was to do with her being mixed race.
In a bizarre and convoluted analogy, Meghan said one of the Queen’s aides compared her to a foreign organism. She said: ‘It is like a fish that is swimming perfectly. It is powerful, it is on the right current. Then one day this little organism comes in’.
But Meghan suggested the royal household immediately thought: ‘What is that? What is it doing here? It doesn’t look like us. It doesn’t move like us. We don’t like it. Get it off us’.
Royal officials will be watching the denouement of the series with interest, but King Charles III and Prince William are not expected to comment personally unless the claims are so incendiary they require a rebuttal.
Episode 4 begins with preparations for the royal wedding in May 2018.
She said: ‘Harry’s dad is very charming and I said to him like ‘I’ve lost my dad in this’, so him as my father-in-law was really important to me, so I asked him to walk me down the aisle and he said yes.’
Meghan later added: ‘H and I are really, really good at finding each other in the chaos.
‘When we find each other, reconnect, it’s like, ‘It’s you, it’s you’.
‘It’s not that the rest of it doesn’t matter, but the rest of it feels temporary’.
Speaking about the Kingdom Choir gospel group which performed at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, friend and tennis star Serena Williams said: ‘To have her culture represented at that wedding. Amazing, I loved it. I thought it was really courageous breaking boundaries but not trying to.’
The Duchess of Sussex then spoke of her first engagement with the Queen.
Meghan said: ‘I treated her as my husband’s grandma, and knowing that of course there has to be a completely different sense of propriety in public, when you’re sitting and having breakfast to just be able to talk.
The final episode of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix series opens with a gleeful video selfie in which the Duke of Sussex says: ‘We are on the freedom flight’. ‘When we got into the car in between engagements she had a blanket and she put it over my knees and we were sitting in this car with this blanket and I thought ‘I recognise and respect and see that you’re the Queen, but in this moment I’m so grateful that there is a grandmother figure because that feels like family’.
‘And because I was so so close with my grandmother,’ Meghan said, adding she had taken care of her grandmother ‘in her final years’.
The Duchess of Sussex added of her engagement with the Queen that it was ‘such a good day, we laughed’.
The Duchess of Sussex said she was being ‘fed to the wolves’ during the opening of episode 5 of the Harry & Meghan Netflix documentary.
Speaking about wanting her son Archie to have a big family in the way she had not, Meghan says: ‘I was just so excited that we were going to be able to create for him that thing that I had always wanted.
‘So I just did everything I could to make them proud and to really be a part of the family.’
‘And then the bubble burst,’ she says while the voices of news presenters can be heard saying: ‘Duchess difficult’ and ‘American’.
The Duke of Sussex then says: ‘It was already clear to the media that the Palace was not going to protect her. Once that happens then the flood gates open.’
Meghan then says: ‘I realised that I wasn’t just being thrown to the wolves, I was being fed to the wolves.’
Meghan’s privacy lawyer Jenny Afia has alleged she had seen evidence of briefing from the Palace against the couple to suit other people’s agenda.
The duchess herself says: ‘You would just see it play out, like a story about someone in the family would pop up for a minute and they’d go ‘We’ve got to make that go away’.’
Her friend Lucy Fraser, Meghan’s PR guru, added: ‘Meg became this scapegoat for the Palace. And so they would feed stories on her whether they were true or not to avoid other less favourable stories being printed.’
Ms Afia said: ‘There was a real kind of war against Meghan and I’ve certainly seen evidence that there was negative briefing from the Palace against Harry and Meghan to suit other people’s agendas.’
Harry says royals were ‘upset’ when his wife ‘stole the limelight’ and Meghan refers to herself as a ‘little organism’ royals couldn’t ‘adjust to’
Prince Harry today suggested he and Meghan were ‘better’ at royal engagements than other senior royals and people were ‘upset’ at how his wife ‘stole the limelight’ – as Meghan claimed she was described as a ‘foreign organism’.
Episode four of Harry & Meghan, which aired this morning, sees the Sussexes’ friend Lucy Fraser say that their tour of Australia in October 2018, where Meghan’s pregnancy was revealed, went so well that ‘the palace were incredibly threatened’.
Harry then says: ‘The issue is when someone who’s marrying in should be a supporting act is then stealing the limelight or is doing the job better than the person who was born to do this.
‘That upsets people. It shifts the balance. Because you’ve been led to believe that the only way your charities can succeed and the only way that your reputation can be grown or improved is if you’re on the front page of those newspapers.’

In the fourth episode of the docu-series, which was released today, the royal mother shared a number of pictures from the event, which took place in one of the most expensive suits at The Mark Hotel in Manhatten.
In the snaps, she can be seen beaming with friends in a suite, while in another they could be seen arranging flowers.
Meghan said: ‘My friends surprised me with a really beautiful baby shower in New York.
‘They were like, ‘We’re going to shower her with love, and shower her baby, and she’s going to survive this and we’re going to get through it with her.’
