Meghan Markle‘s mystery British friend – who prominently features in the Sussexes’ bombshell documentary – was invited to the couple’s celeb-studded wedding and was previously hired by the duchess to promote her now closed lifestyle blog.

Lucy Fraser, whose real name is Lucy Meadmore, left many viewers baffled about her identity when she featured in the Netflix docuseries, but appeared to have a close bond with the former Suits star, 41, telling interviewers that she advised her on how to deal with the British press.

She was also seen enjoying ‘single girl summer’ in Europe with Meghan in 2016, as sun-soaked social media snaps showed the pals drinking Campari soda and Aperol Spritz together and posing on a huge hotel bed with Lindsay Jill Roth.

Viewers got to hear from a number of speakers close to the couple, with the likes of tennis great Serena Williams taking part, as well as Meghan’s lawyer niece Ashleigh and Harry’s polo playing model friend Ignacio.

Lucy – who has in past been pictured enjoying the British social scene as she partied with Sinitta and Christopher Biggins – seemed to have developed a close relationship with the Sussexes over the years.

In the documentary, Lucy said she ‘warned’ her friend about the UK’s media and described going to Harry and Meghan’s engagement party, where everyone was dressed in animal onesies.

She added that the Sussexes appearing as penguins because they keep their ‘mates for life’.

On screen, Lucy is described as a friend and discussed Meghan’s plans for having a ‘single-girl summer’ in 2016 – where she travelled around different countries.

In one photograph posted on social media, Lucy is described by Meghan as her ‘London bestie’ as they lay on a bed together giggling in a hotel room.

‘Those late nights when your London bestie comes to keep you company at your hotel,’ the caption read. ‘Thanks @luc7m for keeping my bed warm.’

Other 2015 photos show her and Lucy in London as they pose on a street wearing Miu Miu sunglasses, and all three are in another picture on a hotel bed in Greece.

Lucy – who has worked for several PR firms including Freuds, before branching out and starting her own firm – was also pictured at Harry and Meghan’s Windsor wedding, walking into St George’s with the duchess’s other close friend’s Abigail Spencer and Priyanka Chopra.

She was described as a ‘long time friend of the bride’ on the official guest list.

It is also believed she was one of the ‘five friends’ authorised to speak to US magazine People magazine in 2019 – and who criticised Meghan’s father Thomas after excerpts of a letter he wrote to her were leaked.

The Duchess is thought to have met Lucy in 2014 – when she asked her to help write her The Tig blog – and the two travelled to Costa Rica to pen a feature about the central American country.

The Duchess of Sussex used The Tig to reflect on the full spectrum of human experience – from hot sauces to self-love.

Meghan launched the blog when she was an actress in the legal drama Suits and named the site after her favourite Tignanello wine.

Recalling her first sip, she wrote: ‘It was an ah-ha moment at its finest. For me it became a “Tig” moment – a moment of getting it.’

When Meghan closed The Tig down in April 2017 before announcing her engagement to Prince Harry later that year, she described it as a ‘passion project’ that ‘evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity’.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rallied the troops to tout their ‘side of the story’ in their bombshell Netflix documentary – calling on everyone from tennis pro Serena Williams to Suits producers and former PAs to offer up emotive on-screen tales about their love story, their experiences within the royal family, and the Duchess’ struggles with paparazzi.

Many people shared glowing recollections of Meghan’s talents as an actress, her warm personality – and backed up the Duchess’s own stories about the sacrifices she had to make in order to make her relationship with Harry work, particularly when it came to the couple’s battles with the paparazzi and press.

As part of their $100million deal with Netflix, the privacy-conscious couple have handed over a trove of pictures and video from their relationship including the moment Harry proposed in 2017 and filming himself in the VIP lounge at Heathrow as he emigrated in March 2020.

The first three episodes contain a series of barbs, including Harry’s claim that he was ‘literally brought up’ by a ‘second family’ in Africa where he chose to spend three-month stints in his late teens and twenties as he came to terms with his mother’s death.

Harry also describes a ‘huge level of unconscious bias’ in the Royal Family – with reference to Princess Michael of Kent wearing an offensive Blackamoor-style brooch in front of his wife at Buckingham Palace.

And in a swipe at the choice of wives by his male relatives, viewed as an attack on his father and other senior royals, perhaps even his brother William, Harry insisted that his decision to marry Meghan sets him apart from his family because it was ‘from his heart’ and not because she ‘would fit the mould’.

Senior royals were said to be bracing for the worst and will be prepared to address any unfounded accusations as the new series drops on the streaming service.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had already made a number of claims in two trailers released by Netflix in recent days, saying they had no protection from the Palace and accused aides of actively leaking and ‘planting’ stories against them as part of a ‘dirty game’.

But the Royal Family was said to believe that the series will actually by slim on new revelations.

A source told The Mirror: ‘There’s a real feeling in the camp that Harry and Meghan are making a lot of noise and there isn’t much more to say.

‘But preparations are being made for all outcomes, especially if there are unjust accusations being made.’

It comes after the Sussexes faced an awkward grilling from journalists about their explosive documentary in New York.

Harry and Meghan were asked if they were putting money before family as they graced a star-studded gala hosted by the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights organisation, where they received an award for fighting racism in the Royal Family.

The pair did not give a direct response, but the duke could be heard saying ‘so many questions’ before they were escorted inside.

Earlier, they told the ceremony that their war against ‘oppression’ has only just begun.
