Diamond-encrusted jewelry owned by the late best-selling romance novelist Jackie Collins is going under the hammer.

A diamond necklace, 2.05-carat gold earrings, and a jade buddha pendant that Collins wore day-to-day are being sold for $6,000.

Most of the beloved novelist’s items went up for sale after she died in September 2015, aged 77, after a six-year battle with breast cancer that she had largely kept from people.

Her family have decided to sell the collection with London-based Chiswick Auctions— with the last remaining mementos serving a remainder of a woman who kept her illness a secret, only telling her famous sister Dame Joan Collins two weeks before her death.

The 10 pieces, which include earrings, rings and necklaces, were bought by the late author later in life while she was living in Los Angeles, US.

English-born Collins wrote 32 novels, including The Stud and Hollywood Wives, which have sold more than 500 million copies.

She was also known for her lavish Hollywood lifestyle, married to art gallery and nightclub owner Oscar Lerman she moved in the right circles and knew all the entertainment industry gossip.

In 1978, Jackie saw her novel The Stud adapted into a feature film, with her own sister Joan Collins in the lead role.

Jackie’s husband Oscar produced the film based on the book, along with two others, The World Is Full of Married Men and The B*tch.

From 1981 to 1989, Joan starred in the soap opera Dynasty, making her into a superstar after a series of successful films in Britain and in the US.

During a famous lunch in Mayfair, Jackie explained she hadn’t told her famous older sister about her illness sooner because she hadn’t wanted to burden her.

Jackie kept a busy schedule until her death, making her final, stoic televised appearance on the women’s chat show nine days before she passed away.

Up until the day before she died, she was chatting to fans on Twitter and Facebook.

The day before she died she was still making plans, praising a fan for coming up with the idea of putting all of her novels with her famed character Lucky into one collection.

Her three daughters — Tracy, Tiffany and Rory Lerman — auctioned off many of their mother’s more extravagant showstopper jewels in 2017, but kept hold of these less ostentatious pieces until now.

Sarah Duncan, head of jeweler at Chiswick, London, said: ‘The world Jackie Collins wrote about in her books was all about glamour and exclusivity and these jewels allow her fans to take home some of her own personal glamour.

‘This is just a small part of her collection, the family sold the vast majority a few years ago but kept these pieces so they have never appeared at auction before.

‘What’s really fun about these pieces is they represent her personal style. We all have fancy things and daily things, these were her daily style and personal look, creating that everyday glamour that she embodied.

‘She was such a glamorous lady I can imagine she probably wore them to the gym or something like that.

‘You can see the pieces that are one in a billion in museums or exclusive destinations, but these pieces are obtainable to you or I to have and enjoy a bit of her glamour in our own lives.

‘Jackie Collins is definitely known for the glitz and the glamour, I don’t think I have seen a single picture of her where she wasn’t wearing some jewelry.

‘And these are pieces of fine jewelry, they’re not costume jewelry, worn by one of the most glamorous people of recent history.

‘When you get an A-lister like this at auction, people are always keen to acquire them so we have had a lot of interest. This is a great opportunity for people to own something from her lifestyle.’

The jewelry will be sold at Chiswick Auctions tomorrow.

The novelist, who spent most of her life in America and became a US citizen in 1960, saw all of her books make it onto the New York Times Bestsellers’ List.

Jackie was born in Hampstead, London in 1937, and had help starting her career from her father, who was a theatrical agent whose clients included Shirley Bassey, The Beatles and Tom Jones.

She was expelled from a private school for girls at the age of 15 after throwing her school uniform into the Thames, the river that runs through England’s capital.

As a young stage singer, she appeared alongside the likes of Des O’Connor and reportedly had an affair with Marlon Brando when she was 15 and he was 29.

She said they spent more than one night together, saying that Brando was fun, but nothing more than a ‘schoolgirl crush’.

She and her sister started acting in British B movies, but Jackie largely gave up acting in the 1960s, apart from one appearance in Minder in 1980 when she played herself.

Jackie told People magazine in 1987 that she wished her mother could seen what the pair of them have achieved before her death.

Her father, Joe, was proud of her, but thought her books were ‘pornographic’, she said.

It was her writing that brought Jackie’s stardom, with her first novel, The World Is Full of Married Men, causing controversy after its release in 1968.

Critics branded it ‘nasty, filthy and disgusting’ and it was banned in Australia and South Africa, but the notoriety caused a huge sales boost in the US and the UK.

Her success was replicated in each of her follow up novels, which were read by more than 500 million people around the globe.

In the 1980s, Jackie and her family moved to Los Angeles full-time.

She later went on to present her own daily television show in 1998, Jackie Collins Hollywood, in which she interviewed stars of stage, screen and music, including George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez.

Collins married twice, wedding her first husband Wallace Austin in 1960. They had one child, Tracy, born in 1961, before their divorce in 1964.

In 1965, she married Oscar, with the pair wedding in the home of her sister Joan and Anthony Newley, and went on two have two daughters, Tiffany and Rory. Lerman also adopted Collins’ Tracy.

In the Sunday Times Rich List 2011, Collins was listed as the UK’s fifth richest author with an estimated personal fortune of $96million (£60million).

She was given an OBE in the 2013 Birthday Honours for services to fiction and charity.
