The remains of four infants were discovered inside an apartment in South Boston earlier this month, at least one inside a freezer.

The remains of two males and two females were found after police were called to the apartment, located near Medal of Honor Park, in mid-November.

On November 17, officers were called to the apartment and opened a freezer inside the one-bedroom apartment to find ‘a human fetus or infant.’

When homicide detectives returned to the scene the next day, they found the ‘additional human remains’ inside the residence. Officials did not indicate where in the apartment they were found.

Local media was at the scene November 18 when a team from the medical examiner’s office was seen removing a container from the building. The container was just three feet long, according to NBC Boston.

On Monday, Boston Police officials confirmed that post-mortem examinations had been conducted and determined the remains belonged to two females and two males.

The results of the autopsies on the remains are still pending at this time.

Property records show that there are nine units inside the building, located in the 800 block of East Broadway, and the unit under investigation is a one-bedroom.

One neighbor told a local outlet that the whole building is reeling from the discovery as they come to terms with what was found.

‘It’s horrible, I don’t understand how anybody could do that to any child or any baby at any stage in their life,’ one man interviewed by CBS Boston said.

On the day that the remains were removed, bystanders and neighbors reported seeing officials with the medical examiners office carrying two boxes in and out of the building.

One of the boxes was covered by a blue blanket and was carried by two people.

‘Disgust. It’s horrible,’ one bystander said in an interview earlier this month.

Another person said they have noticed people ‘come in and out’ of the apartment but never thought anything of it.

‘Just people coming and going. I think I’ve seen a handful of people come in and out of there but there is never anything suspicious or scary,’ a resident said.
