Adele reportedly paid tribute to her close friend’s mother on-stage after she passed away amid the singer’s ongoing Las Vegas residency.

The singer, 34, is said to have dedicated her emotional 2008 track Make You Feel My Love to her friend Raven Varona’s late mother during her performance on Saturday.

Raven, who is the official photographer for Adele’s residency, sadly lost her mother Leigh after the run of Las Vegas shows kicked off last weekend.

According to The Sun, Adele halted her gig to pay tribute to her friend’s mother, telling the audience: ‘I would really appreciate it if you could all put on your torches on your phone and shine them like stars so I know her mum can see us.’

A source also told the publication that the passing has hit both Adele and Raven ‘hard’, adding that Adele told her friend to take as much time away from work as she needed.

They said: ‘For the past 12 months Adele’s focus has been on these Vegas shows but despite being under serious pressure herself, when Raven lost her mum she rushed to offer support.

‘Family is a massive thing for Adele and she was keen to make it clear that she could take all the time she needed away before returning to work, the passing has hit them both hard.’

But Raven decided to still cover Adele’s second weekend of Las Vegas shows, and she later took to Instagram to thank Adele for her heartfelt tribute.

Sharing photographs of Adele on stage, Raven penned: ‘One of the last things I got to do with my mom on the Sunday before she passed was show her the photos from weekend 1.

‘I was so excited to show them to her and was hopeful I’d be able to bring her to one of the shows. Thank you Adele and everyone at the show for honoring my mom. I felt her there the whole time.

‘She was and will continue to be my driving force, so going to work felt honorable to her. I love you A x.’

Earlier in the week, celebrity photographer Raven took to Instagram to pay a loving tribute to her mother following her passing.

She wrote: ‘I am so honored to be your daughter. You are and forever will be the axis that my world turns on. I’m so proud I got you as mom and I will continue to live the life you wanted me to live. Your personality was giant.

‘Your legacy will live in every room I walk into. The list of things I will miss about you is endless but I’m so grateful that our love and life together was so detailed. I remember and know everything. Our love was loud and reactive.

‘Thank you for teaching me how to be me. Thank you thank you thank you. I already miss you but I am relived to know that you are no longer in pain. You waited for me. Even in your last moments you were still taking care of me.

It comes after Adele finally kicked off her long-awaited Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace last Friday.

The singer, who had tearfully cancelled her scheduled concerts at the last minute in January, managed to get through her first two-hour, 20-song set for the near capacity 4,100 crowd with barely a glitch.

The spectacular show saw rainfall, a piano being set ‘alight’ on a bed of water and Adele firing T-shirts into the auditorium with a plastic gun.

While she previously put part of the blame on crew members suffering from Covid for postponing the original dates, reports later claimed she was unhappy with the extravagant scale of the production.

She is understood to be earning about £800,000 a night for the 32-night run. Favourites including Chasing Pavements and Rolling In The Deep got an airing – but the loudest cheers came as the screens behind her lifted to reveal the 24-strong string section and she belted out Skyfall in true Bond-theme fashion.

As the singer wrapped up her set, pretty much everyone in the audience had forgiven her too. Heart-shaped confetti rained down and, as she disappeared down a trapdoor in a hail of pink glitter, she signed off in typical fashion. ‘I have no idea what I’m embarking on for five months,’ she said, ‘but I can’t f***ing wait.’
