A crafty Australian mother has transformed two seemingly ordinary corner bookshelves she found at Kmart into a fabulous – and space-saving – Christmas tree.
The woman shared her process to a Kmart hacks Facebook group, quickly earning herself thousands of ‘likes’ – and likely a few copycats along the way.
‘This was a lucky find in my local Kmart store. They are called ‘Corner Ladder Bookshelves’. I was about to purchase the oak-look corner bookshelves but Kmart only had one available to purchase online at the time,’ she wrote.
‘Then I randomly roamed around Kmart last week and found the white one still in stock and for $25 each.’

She purchased five metres worth of tinsel, also from Kmart, before setting to work building the bookshelves and wrapping the plastic tinsel around them.
By pushing the two bookshelves together she managed to make a tree-like formation, with a decorative star placed at the top to prove her point.
She’ll be able to dismantle the ‘tree’ quickly after Christmas is over and use the bookshelves around her home, before re-using them next year.
Hundreds of Christmas fanatics were enthralled by the idea of a bookshelf tree and wanted to give it a try for themselves.

A third added: ‘I’m going out this minute to pick up the supplies to make this’.
