A leading Australian influencer who recently featured on the AFR’s Young Rich List has been called out for an embarrassing social media gaffe.

Natasha Oakley, who has an estimated net worth of $63million, posted a video this week promoting a new item from her bikini brand Monday Swimwear.

In the clip, she spoke of how flattering the two-piece looked on her figure and also spruiked its sustainable benefits – but forgot to edit out an awkward detail.

‘In all the right places and never digs,’ Ms Oakley said, addressing the camera in the bikini. ‘And, like all of our Monday suits, it’s made of 100 per cent recycled materials.’

She then abruptly dropped her perky tone of voice and said to somebody off camera: ‘Okay, that was 15 seconds.’

Ms Oakley quickly deleted the video after realising she should have cut out the last few seconds – but it was already too late.

The clip was soon reposted by Celeb Spellcheck, a popular Instagram account with 243,000 followers that holds influencers to account for their mistakes.

Ms Oakley, who grew up in Sydney but now calls Los Angeles home, grew a following when she started the blog ‘A Bikini A Day’ with her best friend Devin Brugman in 2012 as an outlet to share her favourite swimwear.

The website took off and the pair launched their own swimwear label, Monday Swimwear, followed by an activewear offshoot, Monday Active.

Ms Oakley has since invested in other burgeoning brands like The Pilates Class and Emma Pills, and now has an estimated net worth of $63million.

This was enough to earn her a spot on last year’s Young Rich List, compiled by The Australian Financial Review.

‘Growing up in a beach town was a dream and definitely translated into my love and passion for the ocean, and later swimwear,’ she previously said of her success.

‘I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit being the daughter of two entrepreneurs. Since I was young I knew I wanted to get into business and I feel so fortunate to have found my footing.’

Monday Swimwear was born in 2014, with an emphasis on fit and texture.

Ms Oakley and Ms Brugman have a detailed design process where each style is fit on multiple body types and not just scaled from one size.

‘In our process we like to include the customer as much as possible. We are really vocal with our community and encourage them to be vocal with us,’ Ms Oakley said.

‘We like to survey our customers often and consider all fit comments when designing.’

The brand caters from A to G cup sizes and can be shipped worldwide, making it accessible to all.
