Macklemore touches down in Perth for headline tour of Australia

Macklemore has touched down in Perth with his entourage including Fatman Scoop ahead of his tour in Australia.

The US rapper,  39, opted for a black leather jacket and jeans as he headed out of the airport ahead of a series of shoes.

The hitmaker shielded his eyes from the Aussie sunshine in a pair of tortoise shell shades as he clutched a coffee cup while strolling through arrivals.

Keeping himself well groomed, the Thrift Shop singer showed off an immaculate ginger moustache and goatee while keeping his hair in a classic short back and sides style.

The Grammy-winner is in Australia to headline Fridayz Live where he’ll perform alongside a bevvy of rap and RnB legends including TLC, Akon, Craig David and Ashanti.

The gig, hosted by Abbie Chatfield and Fatman Scoop also features Shaggy, Jay Sean, Dru Hill, Lumidee, Havana Brown and YO! Mafia.

Fatman Scoop, DJ Havana Brown and Rozonda (Chilli) Thomas – a member of TLC – were seen arriving alongside Macklemore.

After the sell-out performance on Saturday, Macklemore, real name Benjamin Hammond Haggerty – will head to Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney. 

His tour comes after Macklemore spoke about his special friendship with Tones and I after releasing their new song together.

The American rapper, 39, met the Australian singer, 28, when she was performing at a club in Seattle in early 2020.

Macklemore, told the Herald Sun, he instantly ‘fell in love with her personality’ and felt inspired by her show.

‘Inside that venue, there was some magic. I met her; she’s a fantastic person and I just fell in love with her personality,’ he said.

‘She took off her shoes on stage, she got really comfortable, I just thought she was hilarious and we connected. And I left the show inspired.’

The pair released their new joint single CHANT in August, which explores their professional and personal struggles.
