Vladimir Putin‘s glamorous frontwoman Maria Zakharova has slammed ‘totalitarian’ Australia for jailing his biggest fan Down Under.
In a bizarre briefing aired on YouTube, Zakharova claimed the so-called ‘Aussie Cossack’ was a ‘political prisoner’ who had been wrongly locked up.
A diehard Putin supporter, Simeon Boikov has been charged with breaching a suppression order after allegedly naming a man accused of paedophilia during a ‘freedom’ rally.
Zakharova said Boikov was ‘popular public figure in Australia’ who had fallen victim to ‘oppressive’ and ‘Russophobic’ authorities.
‘Obviously politically motivated, the application for bail was rejected, that is, the standard procedure in the Anglo-Saxon justice system was denied,’ she said.
Zakharova is the most prominent face of the so-called ‘Red Lipstick Army’, a group of Putin recruits used to sell his propaganda message, and soften the ‘hard edge’ of Russia’s war brutality.

Zakharova, whose YouTube channel is a ‘Must Watch’ for millions of followers said Simeon Boikov’s detainment was ‘poltiically motivated and slams Australia for being ‘totalitarian’ and ‘oppressive’
Her briefings have reportedly become ‘must watch’ events for millions of followers on her YouTube channel, where she has claimed Ukrainian reports about a Russian airstrike on a maternity hospital in March were false, and that Volodymyr Zelensky is making biological weapons.
Zakharova’s latest video comes as Boikov is due to face Burwood Local Court on Thursday on a charge of revealing the name of an alleged paedophile whose identity was suppressed.
Boikov was arrested in May after uttering the alleged child sex offender’s name at a ‘freedom’ rally at Circular Quay of protesters against Covid vaccine mandates, then had his application for bail refused.
In an extraordinary video, Zakharova said refusing Boikov bail was evidence ‘the standard procedure in the Anglo-Saxon justice system was denied’ and called Australia ‘Russophobic’
The pro-Russia diehard faces a hearing on charges of recklessly contravening a suppression order, recklessly contravening a non-publication order, and using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.
In a fierce defence of Boikov, Zakharova’s speech supports his own claims that he is a ‘political prisoner’.
She also describes him as ‘distinguished by a principled approach’ and the suppression order he allegedly violated as ‘a symbolic measure of restraint on a person accused of child molestation’.
‘The opinion of the descendent of the Trans-Boikal Cossacks is authoritative (and he) is followed by tens of thousands of subscribers in social networks,’ she says.

The glamorous wife of the ultra pro-Russian Simeon Boikov, Ekaterina Olshannikova (above) aka ‘Mrs Cossack’ has encouraged supporters to write to her husband while he is in jail bail-refused
‘He has his own large audience including due to his irreconcilable attitude to a number of issues related to traditional values.
‘Given his position, it can be concluded that this is a real problem in Australia … evidenced by the failure on May 21 this year of the parliamentary elections of the Liberal-National coalition.
Zakharova said it was quite remarkable that the Australian court decided to adjourn the hearing of the case until June 30, leaving Boikov behind bars until then.
‘Such demonstrative harshness is completely unjustified and sends the wrong signal to the public, because those whom he spoke against (associated with violence against minors) and not those who expose them should be sent to places of detention or treatment.
‘We see in this case a clear desire to additionally punish an active compatriot.’
She also said it was an ‘example of double standards and prejudice against those who use the right to freely express their views which which do not coincide with the Russophobic mainstream that is currently dominant in Australia’.
Katia Elshannikova (left) claims ‘thosuands’ of supportive cards and letters were delivered to her husband’s jail cell, and his claims of being a ‘political prisoner’ are backed by Putin’s ‘Red Lipstick Army’ frontwoman Maria Zakharova (right)
‘The more liberal the statements the more the countries of the “collective West” show totalitarian tendencies in their practical activities,’ Zakharova said.
‘Healthy forces, the People, the Australian society and our compatriots on the “green continent” demand the speedy release of Simeon Boikov and an end to his persecutions by the Australian repressive apparatus.’
Boikov has previously been in court charged with disobeying a Covid direction, and driving offences.
He had an apprehended violence order taken out against him on behalf of his glamorous wife, Ekaterina Olshannikova, less than a year after they were married.
Also known by her married name, Katia Boikova, she has taken on the moniker of ‘Mrs Cossack’ and maintained his Telegram social media channel since her husband was refused bail.
Ms Boikova has encouraged supporters to send him postcards in prison and contribute to a legal fighting fund.
She informed followers at the weekend that he had been transferred from Silverwater prison to Long Bay Correctional Complex’s ‘special management unit’ after being declared ‘an extremely high risk inmate’.
She also claimed ‘thousands of postcards and letters of support were … brought to his cell daily’.
Ms Olshannikova took the AVO out against Simeon Boikov (above left, together) in January, but calling herself ‘Mrs Cossack’ has staunchly supported her husband since her was bail refused last month
Boikov, who claims Putin is merely ‘liberating’ not invading Ukraine, has described his wife as an even more ‘staunch’ Putin supporter than him and claimed she was ‘disgusted with the way the West’ has turned against Russia.
She and Boikov, 32, a former Sydney private schoolboy who attended elite Trinity Grammar and St Andrews Cathedral School, married in a traditional ceremony in February last year, believed to have been held at St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Fairfield.
Boikov describes himself as ‘a freedom fighter’ and the self-appointed chieftain of his Aussie Cossack movement.
He has also campaigned against pandemic lockdowns and against mandated Covid vaccinations.
Simeon Boikov, the ‘Aussie Cossack’, has been locked up in Silverwater and then Long Bay jails, his wife Katia says, as ‘an extreme high risk’ inmate
The video briefing came from one of the ‘Red Lisptick Army’ Russian President Vladimir Putin has commandeered to take the ‘hard edge’ off the grim realities of his war against Ukraine
Earlier this year, Mr Boikov described Scott Morrison’s pledge to send Ukraine $70million to fund missiles and armaments as dangerous to Australians and said the Australian Prime Minister was ‘a complete fool’ to provoke Putin who was ‘not mucking around’.
Mr Boikov said it was foolish to for Australia to get involved in ‘financing death, destruction, tragedy and bloodshed (in Ukraine)’.
‘Is it a PR stunt?’ he said.
Mr Boikov claims to be a student of Russian and European history who believes ‘Nazi’ inspired battalions have been waging war against Russian speakers in Ukraine, since a political overthrow of government in 2014.
Despite admitting ‘a lot of crazies’ follow him’, Mr Boikov said 98 per cent of his serious followers believe Australia ‘should not be committing missiles or financing a war against Russia’.
He described the West’s campaign to get behind Ukraine and oppose Russia as ‘virtue signalling” and derided ‘Instagram models …. who suddenly overnight become interested in the war’ and put the yellow and blue colours of the Ukraine flag on their Instagram pages like ‘they’re Parramatta Eels supporters”.
‘I am against war, but the war has replaced Covid as the latest fear mongering campaign,’ he said.
